During the first phase of the plan (2018-2022), STUST implemented the Higher Education Sprout Project of the Ministry of Education with outstanding results, and was repeatedly recognized by the Ministry of Education. Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the subsidy amount for the second phase of the plan. STUST made another success. Only three private universities of science and technology received subsidies, and STUST was one of them. The result was very exciting. In addition, all the application cases that STUST filed for the Implementation of University Social Responsibility Practice Plan were approved, which shows that STUST's efforts in linking industrial development and giving back to the local society have been deeply recognized by all walks of life.

Since its establishment, STUST has always claimed to be the "University of Science and Technology as the Best Industry-University Partner." In line with the purpose of "diverse adaptability" and "pragmatic application" of technical and vocational education, STUST has been committed to cultivating talents needed for the industry in the way of "learning by doing." It also upholds the concept of taking what is learned from the society and applying it to the society, shouldering the social responsibility of the university to assist regional development and running the school with an entrepreneurial spirit. Its performance has been recognized by all walks of life. Since 2017, STUST has been implemented the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Sprout Project. Over the past five years, STUST’s promotion of the project, its campus environment has been actively shaped for industry-university cooperation, its interaction with regional industries has been strengthened, and various matching-type industry docking talent training programs have been promoted to strengthen the research and development of key core technologies, enhance the capacity of teacher-industry-student cooperation, shorten the gap between students' learning and application, so as to achieve the goal of getting students employed immediately after graduation. A few days ago, in Cheers magazine's 2023 "Corporate Favorite College Student Survey", STUST ranked third in the private vocational system and ranked first among the private university of science and technology in the southern region, ahead of many national universities with a stable performance. STUST again achieved great results again and the approved amount of grant from the Higher Education Sprout Project; at the same time, its continuous efforts were greatly confirmed and affirmed.
In order to achieve the "Higher Education Sprout Project Targets," STUST always works very hard to implement the project and integrate the teaching and administrative energy of the whole school. As the results have shown, the students of STUST have for three consecutive years won such prizes as the "Honor of Vocation and Technical Education," "The 17th Shangyin Machinery Master's Thesis Award," "Special Award for the University of Science and Technology,” and “Bronze Medal in the Pastry Making Category of the 45th International Skills Competition." In addition, the school team has also successfully introduced virtual reality integration technology into smart medical care, combined with AR smart glasses for long-term care inspections and remote consultation systems, which are to be actually used in the Okayama Veterans Home, winning the 2021 AI+ New Cutting Edge from the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Selection Competition" Winner Award. In 2018, STUST and Chi Mei Hospital jointly established a high-level intelligent biomedical joint research center, which won the 2022 Future Technology Award, and linked two university-level research centers in the school. They also joined hands with seven core hospitals and the health care industry to form a medical universe alliance. In terms of their efforts to promote higher education, the amount of funds raised for financial disadvantaged students has exceeded the target of 5 million NTD over the past three years, reaching 7.15 million NTD in 2022. With the strong support of the board of directors and kind-hearted people from all walks of life, STUST has demonstrated its efforts in creating benefits for financially disadvantaged students.
President Cheng-wen Wu of STUST said that in the future, STUST will continue to move forward on the basis of its great tradition of emphasizing both academic theory and practice, while teachers and students will always be working together to learn together, strengthen cooperation with internationally renowned companies in Taiwan, and develop its competence in artificial intelligence and semiconductors, automotive power electronics, green energy electronics, high-frequency communication systems and applications, etc. Working together with its sister schools, STUST will establish a fast track for the cultivation of technical bachelors, industrial masters, and engineering doctors for the industry, including domestic and international students. STUST will strengthen the connection between teaching and practicing in different industries, continue to promote interactive and cooperative exploration of teaching methods, develop interdisciplinary learning and system integration practice courses, and improve the practice environment and teaching field, with the expect to make great strides forward.
