  STUST held its Fundraising Luncheon for Underprivileged Students, with gratitude to the kindhearted people from all walks of life for their enthusiastic donations to help students feel secure in their studies    2023/6/17    

 

In response to the "Higher Education Intensive Cultivation Plan-Enhancing the Publicity of Higher Education" of the Ministry of Education's, STUST recently held a fundraising luncheon for underprivileged students at the Tainan Dongdong Banquet Hall. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of all the guests at the 43 tables, Cheng-wen Wu, President of STUST, especially presented a certificate of appreciation to each of the kind-hearted people from all walks of life for doing charity and conveying their enthusiasm, which would enable students to pursue and realize their dreams with love. At the end of the luncheon, President Cheng-wen Wu played the saxophone to show his gratitude to all the guests, and his true feelings were deeply imprinted in everyone's heart.

STUST has devoted itself to raising the student aid fund for economically disadvantaged students, and the student aid has achieved remarkable results. STUST has been awarded many times by the Ministry of Education. It has invested a total of more than 20 million NTD in the 112th academic year (including the school's external fundraising. Funds, application for basic subsidies and incentive subsidies from the Ministry of Education) to help economically disadvantaged students with academic guidance, so that learning will not be derailed. Since 2017, 35,161 underprivileged students have been benefited through soliciting donations from all walks of life and the amount of subsidies from the Ministry of Education. During the luncheon, a video about the achievements of the underprivileged students’ implementation was shown. An interview, with Jin-ming Hsu, a student from the Department of International Business, showed that Hsu participated in various national competitions through the subsidy of the underprivileged students’ program during his school days, repeatedly won good results, and used various resources in the school to successfully improve foreign language ability. He has also been enthusiastic about assisting STUST in domestic and foreign academic exchange activities. In April 2012, he won the Tainan City Junior College Outstanding Youth Award, giving full play to the social responsibility of STUST in practice, which is the core of the film. The film's ending song was written and composed by underprivileged students from the Department of Pop Music Industry, STUST. They played and sang the songs, with exciting melody and touching lyrics, deeply touching the heart of every guest.

In addition, the fundraising luncheon that day especially invited Tainan STUST Proprietress Association to make a shocking opening, bringing a vigorous dance suite, and the atmosphere was quite lively. The cheerleading club and the student band of the Department of Pop Music Industry participated in the summer sundae in turn, and played together with President Cheng-wen Wu of STUST, bringing wonderful performances to the guests and sharing the touch of STUST members through music.

President Cheng-wen Wu of STUST said that STUST has been committed to promoting the sustainable development of universities, investing long-term resources to care for underprivileged students, and formulating various counseling measures to protect and support the rights and interests of underprivileged students at all levels of economics, studies, and life. For this reason, STUST has earmarked the special fund for economically disadvantaged students, and fully invested in tutoring underprivileged students, through various methods such as English listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as Chinese reading and expression, practical project production, overseas study, career counseling and scholarships, etc. The student aid mechanism has been upgraded, so that disadvantaged students can also stand on the international arena and move forward with great dignity.
