  Department of Applied Japanese, STUST, joined hands with the Southern Science Park to cultivate Japanese interdisciplinary professionals in high-tech industries    2023/7/13    

 

Department of Applied Japanese, STUST, and the Southern Science Park Industry-University Association of the Republic of China jointly held the opening ceremony of "My Encounter with Semiconductors—Interdisciplinary Exploration Course." Deputy Director Jin-yu Chen of the Investment Section of Southern Science Park, Vice President Rui-shing Chang of STUST, Director Hong-da Shih of the Human Resources Department of UMC, and Secretary-general Jin-jun Tsai of the Southern Science Park Industry-University Association of the Republic of China jointly delivered speeches and launched the opening.

【Department of Applied Japanese, STUST, and the Industry-Academia Association of the Southern Science Park of the Republic of China jointly organized the "My Encounter with Semiconductors—Interdisciplinary Exploration Course" at the Semiconductor Center.】

In response to the development of the industrial chain in the Great South, this course utilizes the resources of the National Council of Science and Technology. It is co-organized by the Department of Applied Japanese, STUST, and the Industry-Academic Association of Southern Science Park, which invited the enterprises of the science park to participate. In addition to students from the Department of Japanese and the Department of International Business, STUST, students from nearly 10 colleges and universities in southern Tainan, including Cheng Kung University, registered with the course. In the future, they will become a new force linking Japanese majors and the semiconductor industry.

In addition to semiconductor-related theoretical and practical courses offered by the Department of Semiconductor and Optoelectronic Engineering, STUST, this course combines association resource links. Some courses are taught on-site at the factory of UMC, and Nissho Taiwan Sanos Co., Ltd. in Luzhu Park is also arranged to serve as a corporate mentor to share careers, so that students can personally experience the employment environment of the semiconductor industry. After completing the courses and publishing results, the trainees will be given the opportunity to submit their resumes, so that the students of the schools of social sciences and various institutions can understand the technology industry and broaden their career direction, creating the benefits of interdisciplinary talents and enriching the diversification of talents in the technology industry.

Director of UMC Human Resources Department, Hong-da Shih said that the semiconductor industry is a key industry in Taiwan, but the supply of talents can no longer keep up with the demand. In response to the internationalization of factories, companies need more language professionals. UMC is very pleased to have the opportunity to cooperate with the Department of Applied Japanese of STUST, the Industry-Academia Cooperation Association of Southern Science Park, and the Bureau of Southern Science Park Management to integrate the strengths of industry, government, and academia to conduct this course, so that more students from interdisciplinary departments can learn about the semiconductor industry and related basic knowledge early, and increase the possibility and choice of career.

Rui-shing Chang, Vice president of STUST, said that STUST prioritizes cultivating talents for future industrial needs, and actively promotes innovative interdisciplinary talent cultivation programs. This course can help students from different schools to implement interdisciplinary learning together by an integration of industry, government and academia, which is the direction that STUST has been actively promoting.
