At the beginning of the university's founding, they established the excellent school spirit of "taking from students and spent on students" as well as the principle that directors and chairmen do not receive salaries, which is indeed a model of leadership. Moreover, the second chairman, Mr. Wen-bing Shin, and Director Shiu-chi Wu each donated NT$70 million in 1981 for the building of the school, laying the foundation for STUST to become a first-class university. In his speech, Chairman Chang even cited speeches by celebrities such as Dr. Wilson, the former president of Princeton University, and former U.S. President Roosevelt to encourage the teachers and students of the STUST. Finally, he hoped that the teachers and students can uphold the founding fathers' grand vision of "establishing a first-class university and teaching the first-class students." STUST will continue to work hard towards the goal of becoming a world-class institution of higher learning.

In addition to thanking the distinguished guests, President Cheng-wen Wu of STUST, said in his speech that "teaching our students well" has always been the main axis of STUST. It is also the greatest responsibility given by the founder and the board of directors to all faculty and staff. The university takes this as a guideline to run the school, cultivate talents for industry and society, and benefit the country. Our founders and successive directors have always cared for our students through various scholarships and bursaries, offering the most practical support to the school through donations. In recent years, STUST has been affected by declining birthrate and industrial changes. Taiwan's technology industry is booming, but the industry is facing a talent shortage, especially cross-field talents in such fields as smart electric vehicle, sustainable green energy, and sports technology. To cultivate this type of talents is really a top priority. As a university of science and technology, we have the responsibility to help solve the talent needs of enterprises. Therefore, STUST have designed various academic courses and continued to expand on the existing basis to develop the talents needed by the industry. At the same time, STUST restarted the Continuing Education Department and expanded it into the Continuing Education and Extended Education Division, continuing to serve educational resources to all levels of society. In addition to setting up extensive education courses for people in the community to further their studies, STUST also actively links extension education with industry, setting up industry-university specialized classes to achieve a win-win situation between academia and industry.
