  Towards a green future: STUST Industrial Net-Zero Sustainability Forum and Research Results Technology Matchmaking Conference    2023/11/30    

 

In response to the global net-zero trend and the pressure to reduce carbon emissions from green supply chains, STUST recently joined forces with the Scientific Research Industrialization Platform of National Cheng Kung University and organized the 2023 Industrial Net-Zero Sustainability Forum and Research Results Technology Matchmaking Conference, which was held grandly at the International Conference Hall of the Nanke Incubation Center of the Entrepreneurship Agency. The conference linked together industry, government, academic and research resources, such as the Bureau of Economic Development of Tainan City Government, the Nanke Incubation Center of Small, Medium and New Enterprises Administration, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Anping Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Taiwan Science and Industrial Park Science and Industry Association, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and Lianhua Electronics Co., Ltd. and Nanbao Resin Chemical Factory Co., Ltd., and more than 30 companies, with a total of 88 participants to jointly create net-zero carbon emissions for enterprises. They tried to seek solutions, guide the sustainable transformation of industries to integrate with international standards, and seize all the potential green business opportunities.

Chief Shi-rong Lin of the Investment and Business Section of the Bureau of Economic Development, Tainan City Government, Director Jin-jie Huang of the Anping Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Director Chun-hui Guo of the Southern District Office of the Taiwan Science and Industry Park Science and Industry Association showed their appreciation for the efforts and performance of many enterprises in the region in low-carbon and digital re-engineering transformation. They also hoped that through this cross-sector cooperation, Taiwan can accelerate the pace of enterprises' zero-carbon transformation and work together to achieve the goal of green energy sustainability.

Dr. Zhi-wei Lin from the Industrial Technology Research Institute of ITRI shared his "Net-zero Sustainability: Implementing Green Transformation of Enterprises" at the forum, describing the international net-zero emission trend and explaining how enterprises can make good use of government guidance and subsidy resource programs. In addition, Director Chun-hui Guo of the Southern District Office of the Taiwan Science and Industrial Park Science and Technology spoke on "Sharing the Results of Corporate Net-Zero Carbon Emission Promotion," which was discussed by Deputy Director Bing-kun Chang of Lianhua Electronics Co., Ltd., and Deputy General Manager Yong-ching Shen of the R&D and Innovation General Office of Nanbao Resin Chemical Factory Co., Ltd. Both shared an excellent case study on the company's successful promotion of the sustainable strategy blueprint and low-carbon product development process.

The second half of the R&D Technology Matchmaking Conference was led by Vice president Rui-shing Chang of STUST. Deputy Director Shu-chiang Guan of the Research Development and Industry-Academic Cooperation Office, Chair Sheng-zhang Wang of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Chair Wang Liyang of the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Chair Guo-jun Hong of the Department of Information Engineering, met with the school The technical research and development team of nine teachers including Jun-jie Chu, Yi-ran Hsu, Jing-zhou Tang, Jia-shiang Su, Rui-tang Chen, Ying-nian Chou, Ya-lin Chen, Shun-jie Hsu, and Zhi-hao Wang, who, as interdisciplinary patent holders, contributed totaled 19 works. Combined with those from the new enterprises of Nanke Incubation Center, 22 research and development works were published for in-depth technical exchanges. Rui-shing Chang, Vice president of STUST, said that STUST has made full preparations to assist enterprises in low-carbon and digital sustainable transformation in recent years. It has established an on-campus green energy sustainable R&D team, actively cultivated corporate green-collar talents, and successfully trained more than 80 seed teachers with carbon inventory (ISO14064-1) and energy diagnosis capabilities (ISO50001). Moreover, it also obtained the training qualification of "SD6 Green Process-Sustainable Development Service Organization" and the "Industrial Low-Carbon and Intelligent Guidance" from the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and signed industry-university cooperation projects with 73 companies in low-carbon, digital intelligence and other related technologies in 2023, with a total funding of 20 million NTD, which fully demonstrated STUST's determination and efforts to fully invest in sustainable research and development of green energy and talent cultivation. STUST is looking forward to continued healthy development with the industry in the future, conducting multi-party cooperation and exchanges, and cultivating our students to become indispensable core competitiveness for the sustainable development of enterprises.
