Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, gave a COMPUTEX speech on the theme "Opening a New Era of Industrial Revolution" at National Taiwan University on June 2, setting off a whirlwind of AI issues. The STUST's logo also appeared on the opening projection backboard, causing heated discussions. As the university indicated, when Wu Cheng-wen, Chairman of the National Science Council of STUST, served as the president of STUST, he had already prepared to open the "Smart Manufacturing Technology Center," "Smart Health Medical Technology Center," "Sports Technology Center," "Smart Green Energy Technology Center," and "Smart Electric Vehicle Technology Center.” These five major technology centers, based on artificial intelligence, will lay the foundation for the development of the AI era in the future.

STUST said that it has abundant energy in technology research and development, and the talents it cultivates have been the first choice for enterprises. STUST not only plans to cultivate cross-domain AI talents with NVIDIA, but also has had off-campus internship cooperation with TSMC, Innolux, Epistar, UMC, ASE and other semiconductor industries in recent years. It has also cooperated with Yangming Jiaotong University and Wistron to establish the AIoT Smart Manufacturing Master's Program and has planned the Hadwell internship program with Macronix Electronics. In addition, the Ministry of Education has also invested more than NT$ 20 million to construct the 5G Smart Factory+Smart Manufacturing Visual Inspection Implementation Factory and Smart Medical+Smart Medical and Care Technology Implementation Field. Moreover, it has established an industry-university joint research base to invest in Relevant R&D manpower, R&D equipment, industry-university cooperation, and talent cultivation resources are expected to accelerate the benefits of cross-campus and cross-domain cultivation of enterprise talents.

In addition, the Sports Technology Center of STUST has actively used NVIDIA's GPUs and libraries to improve the training and performance of athletes. It has developed advanced applications for training systems in baseball bullpens and track-and-field space. By accelerating the collection and processing of sports data, these applications can effectively conduct large-scale sports data analysis and develop a virtual coaching system to provide accurate and personalized training advice for athletes. It also applies virtual training for sports enthusiasts—both beginners and experiencers. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are thus applied to developing virtual training systems. By collaborating with NVIDIA, these systems provide a more realistic and smooth virtual training environment, creating a more vivid and interactive training experience in augmented reality applications.
De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, said that in order to keep pace with future digital AI development trends and industrial trends. STUST has established the Smart Health and Medical Technology Center, Smart Green Energy Technology Center, Sports Technology Center, Smart Electric Vehicle Technology Center, and Smart Manufacturing Technology Center. These five major science and technology centers will be the main axis for developing key technologies such as AI, big data and the Internet of Things, and for working with enterprises to produce good results. For example, the Smart Health Medical Technology Center cooperates with hospitals (Chi Mei and NCKU) to develop products that meet clinical medical and nursing needs to help hospitals improve medical efficiency. The AIOT Smart Internet Application R&D Center and Zozhen Company jointly develop smart glasses and many other products, making great contribution to hearing-impaired medical care.

STUST combines industrial resources and school technology research and development energy to introduce virtual-real integration technology into fields such as smart medical care, smart manufacturing, and smart exhibitions. This can quickly deepen the application technology of the metaverse, meet industry needs, and equip students with basic capabilities in AI. Students of STUST will be specialize in AI technology and make good use of AI tools in the industry, eventually becoming an indispensable key talent for enterprises.
