A total of 77 teams from 36 schools participated in this competition. The competitive cheerleading team of STUST signed up for 2 competition categories: General Foursome Mixed Group and General 4-5Female Group. In the competitive cheerleading group competition this year, only 4 universities of science and technology participated, including 2 national universities of science and technology and 2 private ones. In the large group competition, there were no universities of science and technology participating. The declining number of students had also seriously affected the participation rate of private universities of science and technology in various national competitions. Regardless of the fact that there could be no enough students to participate in large group competitions, STUST still encouraged students to actively participate in various categories of national competitions, which showed the coaches and teachers’ care for students, the academic affairs office’s support for clubs, and the school’s commitment to cultivating students’ sports development.

For the first time since its establishment, the competitive cheerleading team of STUST won the championship in the General Foursome Mixed Group and the first third-place trophy in the General 4-5 Female Group. The team was particularly proficient in the difficult aerial tossing technique. It also arranged multi-based technical processes that are high-tech, compact, rich and creative. When winning the award, everyone was excited and uplifted. The contestants were so moved and cried with joy. It was not in vain to recruit Coach Shiu-de Chiu from Kaohsiung to STUST to teach the team members gymnastics techniques this semester.

Jia-wei Yan, Captain of the competitive cheerleading team of STUST, said that despite the shortage of members, the club faces the current competition with a positive attitude and focuses on daily training models under the guidance of coaches, teachers and seniors, hoping to make good use of novel and creative club business models and allowing the alumni to return to their alma mater to lead the club students. All the members jointly improve their techniques, work hard together, and implement what they inherit from the tradition.

De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, said that it is not easy for schools in the general group to operate in sports events, especially after the number of students in each school dropped, which has challenged private universities with various situations and conditions. It is hoped that student clubs can make good use of the limited human resources and training time. Under this situation, the club should operate from the perspective of "experience and inheritance" and "scientific training" using the most effective training methods to face various challenges. It is hoped that the competitive cheerleading team of STUST will continue to uphold their original goal, enthusiasm and love of the sport. With the spirit of never giving up, they will continue the development of the club, improve their skills and techniques, and continue to bring glory back to the school with their outstanding performances.
