  STUST won the only triple winner of the School Group Award in the International Chinese E-book Competition    2024/6/24    

 

The 14th International Chinese Language and Education Cup E-book Competition, guided by the Hualien County Government, the National Library, and the National Public Information Library, recently announced its results. STUST won the School Group Award for the third consecutive year, with 103 qualified works. It was the school with the best performance and the most awards in the competition. The Department of Leisure Business Management, Department of Information Communication, Department of Multimedia and Computer Science, and Department of Industrial Management and Information, STUST, participated in the competition, spanning various fields, such as business management and digital multimedia. Each team performed as well as it had at STUST. The chairs of the departments had given full play to the characteristics of each department and achieved fruitful results. In this competition, STUST won the first prize—School Group Award.

This competition is the premier and largest e-book competition in Taiwan's e-book publishing industry. In order to enhance participants' awareness and investment in global sustainable environmental issues, the competition particularly set "Sustainability Makes the World Better" as its theme and encouraged participants to show their creativity in designing an e-book in line with the SDGs issues to contribute to the sustainable development of the earth. The annual International Chinese Language and Education Cup E-book Competition has more than 10,000 participants from more than 100 participating schools. This year, there were 211 teams shortlisted. The participating schools included those at home and abroad; the total number of participating schools over previous years and the volume of works have repeatedly hit new record highs. As this is the largest, the most important and most famous international competition for Taiwan's e-book publishing industry, it was not easy for STUST to stand out and win the award.

In the Thematic Group, Prof. Zhi-jing Yang from the Department of Leisure Business Management led the student team formed by Pei-chi Yeh, Yi-you Chen, Yun-chi Chang, Yi-chen Huang, Yong-chen Huang, and Pei-han Tu to winning the second place. In the College Group, the student team formed by Song-jun Gu, Jie-ru Li, Wen-yong Tsai, Wen-sheng Shu, and Yu-tai Yu and guided by Prof. Dan-ching Liang of the Department of Information Communication won the Excellent Third Place, and Yi-ting Zeng and Si-han Wang won the Excellent Second Place. The team formed by Jun-han Li, Ya-ting Wu, Yi-min Lin, En-tzi Huang, and Yan-yu Chen from the Department of Leisure Business Management, directed by Prof. Zheng-da Yang, won the "Excellent First Place. In addition to the teams directed by these three teachers, the student teams directed by Prof. Jing-yi Zheng, Prof. Jie-ren Ding, and Prof. Si-shuan Wu also won a large number of outstanding work awards. STUST deserved the only School Group Award of the country.

De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, said that it was worth noting that the participating teams from all the departments in the school performed well and won the No. 1 school team award in the country for three consecutive years. In this ever-changing era, talents needed in our society are no longer just persons with one single skill. STUST’s philosophy of education emphasizes cross-field integration and all-round talent cultivation. The curriculum planning of each department not only focuses on the professional training of the department but also adapt to changes in the current situation, adding different courses to enhance the competitiveness of students. The purpose is to enable students to perform well in various fields after graduation and become excellent talents for the benefit of our society and country.
