  The Department of Information Communication, STUST, challenged the first "I am young; I am environmentally friendly" Corporate Sustainability ESG Campus Film Contest," winning two Purple Green Quality Awards, one Excellent Work Award, and two Internet Popularity Awards for outstanding performance and bringing glory to the school    2024/7/5    

 

Business Times and the Development Environmental Protection Foundation held the first College Environmental Protection Short Video Selection Competition of "I'm Young; I'm Environmentally Friendly "Corporate Sustainability ESG Campus Film Contest." A total of 236 teams and 2,124 teacher and student audio and video teams signed up for the competition, reviewed by thousands of netizens and 25 professional judges. Prof. Dan-ching Liang from the Department of Information and Communication, STUST, guided 16 groups of film and television creative teams to plan and shoot ESG environmentally friendly audio and video works. 10 groups were shortlisted for the Top 50 Preliminary Round and online popularity voting. Finally, they stood out among the "Final 30 Groups" and won 2 purple awards. They won 5 awards in total, including 2 Youth Quality Awards, 1 Excellence Award, and 2 Internet Popularity Awards. The student team of the Department of Information Communication of STUST (Zhi-lin Liu, Yi-ting Zeng, Si-han Wang, and Bing-feng Wang) won the Purple Green Quality Award. The audio-visual work "Love is Power" interviewed Chairman Ru-shan Tsang. As a child of a soldier, he deeply understands the hard work of front-line military police and their contributions. Over the years, it has continued to donate and support various needs, including holding charity concerts, donating equipment and bonuses, which reflects its commitment to social services. Through loving donations and practical actions, Airli Group has demonstrated the company's services. The power of love has made Taiwanese society safer with the efforts of the military and police.

Another team from the Department of Information Communication, STUST (En-ching Chang, Yu-tai Yu, and Si-han Wang) won the Purple Green Quality Award, demonstrating the multiple functions of the Yuantong electric hand uTagGo App with their work "uTagGo solving the big and small problems of car owners to create a green driving ecosystem. Finding a parking space has been transformed from a tedious task to a simple mobile phone operation, creating a green, efficient and convenient driving ecosystem, bringing revolutionary changes to modern urban life.

The organizer of this competition explored the topic of the Environmental Protection Foundation, and more than 80 groups enthusiastically submitted their works. The work "PM2.5 of Faith" by the Department of Information and Communication, STUST (Fang-yu Guo, Tsi-wei Yan, Shiang-jun Lin, and Zi-yong Lin) used a creative style to jump-start the competition, went beyond ordinary environmental protection works, stood out among many works and successfully attracted the attention of netizens. He voted up to 801 votes and won the Excellent Work Award and the fourth place in the Internet Popularity Award.

The work "Environmental Protection Pioneer is Huifeng" by the student team of the Department of Information and Communication, STUST (Yu-kai Chu, Shin-lian Lin, Qun-mao Chen, and Kai-wen Shi) took the audience into the HSBC Automobile SUM Spray Paint Center through the lively style of the Internet celebrity car expert, allowing the audience to gain a detailed understanding of HSBC’s efforts in ESG environmental protection. The video attracted a high click-through rate and was shared nearly a thousand times on social media. The online vote reached 2,047 votes, and it won the first place in the Internet Popularity Award.

Prof. Dan-ching Liang said that this competition is conducted in the form of "corporate propositions and students' propositions." Well-known companies propose propositions, and students use the sustainability of various companies as case inspiration to produce creative audio-visual works on ESG-related issues. Teachers and students passed all the tests and put in a lot of effort to improve the learning efficiency and teamwork ability of the competition. Finally, they were recognized by the judges in the first national competition, which is of special significance to teachers and students. Participating in the competition not only allowed students to enhance their understanding of the ESG sustainability efforts and achievements of major companies in their actual creations; it also achieved the goal of technical and vocational education to cultivate "pragmatic and practical" talents.

De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, said that ESG is not only related to the environment (E), but also covers society (S) and corporate governance (G). ESG helps maintain a company not only improves the company's reputation, it is but also the three core factors for measuring corporate sustainability. Teachers and students can learn from competitions and practice ESG industry-university cooperation with well-known companies. They not only learn the importance of ESG sustainable development, but also hone students' film and television communication skills and practical abilities, thereby cultivating creative, sustainable literacy and becoming a pioneer in spreading a sense of responsibility.
