Nguyen Thi Fangyong, a student in the business management doctoral program of the College of Business and Management, STUST, recently won the "113th Annual Award for Ph.D. Thesis Award for Ph.D. Candidates in the Field of Humanities and Social Sciences" from the National Science Council and received a scholarship of NT$480,000. Most of the winners of this award came from research-oriented national universities, such as National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, National Cheng Kung University, and Tsinghua University. STUST was the only private science and technology university to be included in the list. It was not easy to have this achievement.

【Acting President De-guang Chou of STUST said that Nguyen Thi Fangrong’s award is an important affirmation for STUST’s doctoral degree program in business management.】
Nguyen Thi Phuong Rong came to Taiwan from Vietnam to study for a doctoral degree. Her research focused on corporate governance, strategic management, technology management, and other related research topics. The topic of her award-winning thesis is "Exploring the Impact of CEO Decision Horizon on Breakthrough Innovation through the Lens of Institutional Perspective on CEO Employment Norms," and the thesis explores the impact of CEO decision-making behavior on major industrial innovations from the perspective of institutional theory. Nguyen Thi Phuong Rong said that for receiving the award from the National Science Council, she was grateful not only to Prof. De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, Prof. Rong-jing Lin of the Department of International Business, and Prof. Zhen-yu Li of National Chiayi University, but also to the Taiwanese Government for its support. The government provides support and assistance to foreign students studying in Taiwan, hoping that the research energy and achievements accumulated in Taiwan can be used as a reference for subsequent foreign students to study in Taiwan or STUST.

President De-guang Chou further pointed out that Nguyen Thi Phuong Rong’s award is also an important recognition for STUST’s doctoral program in business management. STUST is the only private university in Taiwan that has been accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). It has been committed to improving the quality of teaching and research over the years, and has cultivated many outstanding international students. After completing their studies, these doctoral students teach in various universities in Taiwan, return to their home country to serve as university professors, or serve as school principals or senior managers. This allows Taiwan's academic blood to spread internationally and thereby expand Taiwan's reputation and international influence. In the future, STUST will continue to uphold its educational ideals, continue to cultivate talents for Taiwan and the international community, and demonstrate Taiwan's value to the world.
