Want Want China Times Group held the 33rd Times Golden Calf International Competition, and the award ceremony was held recently at the New Taipei City Government Auditorium. The College of Digital Design, STUST, has been awarded the Industry-Academic Cooperation Contribution Award for the second consecutive year, ranking first among private universities in terms of number of finalists, with a total of 198 works. The Department of Information and Communication, STUST, won the Technical Category—Best Photography and Videography Award, 3 third places, 6 winning awards. The Department of Multimedia and Computer Science won the third place, and the Department of Visual Communication Design won the Excellent Work Award. Altogether STUST won a total of 12 awards.

Prof. Dan-ching Liang from the Department of Information and Communication, STUST, directed the creative team to submit nearly 100 works, 9 of which won awards. Among them, the winning work of the Want Want Filial Song MV Creation Award we the most outstanding. This award is based on the creation of filial piety songs and the MV audio and video works, with the purpose of promoting filial piety. Prof. Dan-ching Liang from the Department of Information and Communication directed two student teams and were shortlisted for a total of 9 awards. "Keep a Light for You" filial piety MV video creation (by Jia-rong Wu, Jia-ying Li, Bing-feng Wang, Jun-wei Shu, Jun-ting Liu, Ya-ting Guo, Jia-chuan Chang, Shiang-hua Wang, Wei-shuan Wang and Yi-jun Lin) won the third place, Technical Category—Best Photography Award, and Technical Editing Category—Winner Award and Twosome
Finalist Award. The second filial piety MV video work, "Painting the Sky," (by Jia-chi Tsao, Guan-ting Chen, Yi-jun Zhuo, Jia-wei Liang, Yan-hong Lu, Yu-han Wang, Yin-jie Yuan, Shiang-ching Lian, and Ming-yu Guo) won the Outstanding Award and the Threesome Finalist Award.

The entire video of the award-winning MV was filmed on the campus of STUST, landmarks in Tainan City, and at Fannan B&B, the home of Chairman Shiu-chi Wu, the founder of STUST. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the founding of Tainan, so the beauty of the city is worth filming. At the same time, Chairman Shiu-chi Wu attaches great importance to education and praise of filial piety. He donated money to build the Niantzi Hall and established scholarships at STUST, making a huge contribution to the school. He hopes that the work can promote filial piety, remind students to drink water and remember the source, and make filial piety a habit. At the same time, he hopes that students can understand the original intention and hardships of the founders of STUST. Another award-winning work related to cultural beliefs is based on the theme of Tainan Academy Tzu Chi Palace. The work "Inheriting Tzu Chi Guardian from Generation to Generation" by the student team of the Department of Information and Communication (Ting-yu Wu and Yan-rong Chen) was created from a creative perspective to promote the charm of the "Shangbaijiao" festival. It won the third place of the category.

The work "Water God—Battle to Protect Baby's Health" by teachers and students of the Department of Multimedia and Computer Science (Prof. Zheng-da Yang, Prof. Yu-shun Shiao, and Prof. Chiao-ting Lai) uses Want Want Group's brand Water God as the theme. The students said that they learned by doing and simulated the experience of young mothers using Shuishen products. The cute design combined with game design and online interactive advertising won the favor of the judges and won third place. Prof. Zheng-da Yang said that the competition for the Golden Calf Award is becoming increasingly fierce, and it is not easy for a work to win the favor of the judges.

Prof. Dan-ching Liang from the Department of Information and Communication and Prof. Zheng-da Yang from the Department of Multimedia and Computer Science were also awarded the "Excellent Instructor Award" in recognition of the two teachers' efforts and contributions in guiding students to participate in the Golden Calf Award for many years. Dean Bing-zhang Chen of the College of Digital Design said that this year STUST is the only private science and technology university among the top four in the country with the number of finalists. Winning the Industry-Academic Cooperation Contribution Award for the second consecutive year was the conference's recognition of the efforts of the teachers and students of our school. The number of finalists and awards this year was higher than last year. Both teachers and students won awards at the award ceremony, and it is hoped to achieve greater success next year.

Prof. Dan-ching Liang said that the film and television creative production team behind the scenes of the two MVs was jointly completed by teachers, students and retired teachers from the Department of Information and Communication, STUST, giving full play to the spirit of the "Southern Taiwan Group," namely, unity, mutual help, common good, common prosperity and win-win. The MV with the theme of filial piety requires actors to act as parents. This time retired professor Zong-lin Wu (former chair of the Department of Extensive Education) from STUST was invited to play the role of a kind, considerate father, and retired Professor Shiu-ying Lin. The two teachers have superb acting skills. If there was an award for Best Actor and Best Actress, it should belong to them. It is hoped the work can win empathy and resonance from the audience.

De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, said that technical and vocational education emphasizes pragmatic and practical educational goals. Competition learning not only hone students' practical ability in design and film and television communication skills, but also cultivates creative media leaders with AI literacy. The China Times Golden Calf International Competition has entered its 33rd year and has become the Oscar for youth creativity in the Chinese world. The total number of entries for this competition exceeds 100,000. The competition was very fierce and must take a lot of effort. The final winning rate was only 7 out of 1,000. It was the most rare creative advertising communication design competition. Teachers and students could apply AI intelligent technology to demonstrate creative energy. It was great that they won awards in this iconic international creative competition and they deserved recognition.
