The "Health Navigator" team was composed of students Ming-yi Li, Wei-ren Zeng, Neng-yao You, and Shu-kai Li, mentored by Assistant Professor Ming-zhe Chen of the Department of Electronic Engineering, STUST, won the highest honor in the application group—the Gold Medal Award for their work "Home Peritoneal Dialysis Intelligent Assistant." This work combines a "smart cabin" that integrates drainage fluid health recognition and injection volume detection, a detachable "smart constant temperature heating bag" and a "cloud information monitoring platform" for caregivers to follow up on data. The purpose is to solve the current clinical problems encountered by peritoneal dialysis, such as the lengthy and imprecise heating process, the difficulty in accurately monitoring the injection volume, and the inability to know complications and infections. It is hoped that through this service, STUST can help home peritoneal dialysis patients and caregivers save time, take standardized procedures, and prevent from delayed treatment complications.

Assistant Professor Ming-zhe Chen of the Department of Electronic Engineering, STUST, said that the winning entries in this competition, based on the needs of peritoneal dialysis patients and hospitals, introduced technological assistive devices into patients' daily lives to solve the pain points of patients' home treatment and the difficulty of real-time tracking in hospitals. Special thanks should be given to Chair Shin-shu Chou of the Medical Research Department of Chiayi Christian Hospital, Supervisor Shiang-jun Chen, Researcher Jin-yi Lin for imparting valuable medical-related knowledge and assisting in clinical testing. Thanks should also be given to Professor Wan-rong Chang, a former professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering who now teaches in the Department of Electronic Engineering of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. Finally, Prof. Chen would like to thank Professor Kun Ouyang of the Department of Creative Product Design for assisting in the packaging of the work. With the assistance of the Department of Creative Product Design, the team has successfully leveraged the combination of the AI technology research and development capabilities of the Department of Electronic Engineering and the design capabilities of the Department of Creative Product Design to produce outstanding results. Winning the gold medal in the application group will offer students more interdisciplinary learning opportunities in the future. In addition to improving their design skills, students can continue to learn and grow from interdisciplinary cooperation.

President De-guang Chou of STUST said that STUST follows national policies to vigorously promote artificial intelligence and Internet of Things education, providing teachers and students with a large amount of funds for special project production and resources for research and development. The explanation of teaching theory is only the structure and concept, while the focus is on how to effectively use this concept. Only by applying it to solve problems can the benefits of what one has learned be brought into play, so what he has learned will not be in vain. Winning this competition not only strives for honors for the school, but also proves that students can implement classroom theoretical foundations into product development and design. It is an affirmation of the hard work of teachers and students, and the various skills that students have learned in the process of product development. Professional and industrial application technology will enable students to directly enter the workplace and seamlessly connect with the industry after graduation, and will also promote development opportunities for students to start their own businesses.
