  STUST’s sustainable talent cycle continues with a joint briefing session on corporate internships for international students and overseas students across campuses in Yunlin, Jiayi, and Tainan was held    2024/8/28    

 

In response to the trend of declining birthrate and the challenge of international talent competition, STUST has joined forces with Kunshan University of Science and Technology, Wufeng University of Science and Technology, CITIC University of Science and Technology, Wenzao University of Foreign Languages and other partner schools to jointly launch the 2024 Joint Briefing of International Students and Overseas Students Enterprise Internship Matchmaking, grandly held in the Tainan Industrial Park recently. Participating manufacturers covered chemical industry, metal manufacturing, metal processing, automobile and motorcycle and parts manufacturing, machinery manufacturing, information and communications, plastic products, optical equipment, agriculture and livestock and other industries. Sixth participating guests and company representatives came in order to recruit outstanding international students to come to Taiwan, hoping to achieve the development goals of sustainable talents and looking forward to the international market.

This time STUST cooperated with the Ministry of Education to execute its policy of recruiting outstanding international students and overseas students, linked the resources of major partner schools, and joined hands with Yunlin, jiayi, and Tainan Industrial Park to jointly hold a briefing for the international industrial talent education specialty classes (new specialty classes), jointly organized by international specialized training departments, and industry-university cooperation offices. The briefing session for the specialty class for cooperative overseas students was a shot in the arm to promote international students and overseas students to work in Taiwan as interns, establish demand pools for corporate talent, solve the labor gap of enterprises in the park, and strengthen the recruitment and retention of international talents. In particular, the leaders of industrial park enterprises, Chairman Bao-hong Yeh of the Tainan Industrial Park Manufacturers Association and Chairman Zhi-gang Wang of the Manufacturers’ Association of Yongkang Industrial Zone, worked together on the same front to link the resources between schools and enterprises. They felt cherished and inspired to work hard for the entire industrial environment, and Chairman Bao-hong Yeh even supported it with actions. He took the lead in signing a MOU—New International Specialty Class Industry-Academic Cooperation with STUST. Together they embrace new opportunities for sustainable talents to stay in Taiwan, which will become a benchmark for industrial park enterprises.

This event invited Director Jia-wen Tsao of the Tainan Branch of the Park Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to have in-depth exchanges with enterprises on the theme of sustainable recycling of international talents. Invited honorable guests included Deputy Director Chong-wen Guo of the Tainan Branch of the Park Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Director Geng-yuan Guo of the Tainan Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Director Zong-tsan Li of the Guantian Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Director Fang-mao Yang of the Yongkang Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Director Shing-nan Guo of the Shinying Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Director Shi-hsiong Lin of Jiatai Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Team Leader Feng-rou Chen of the Puzi Industrial Park Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and other distinguished guests. They also hoped that through this briefing, they would strengthen the links between schools and enterprises, secure industry-university cooperation opportunities, and accelerate the pace of the sustainable cycle of corporate talents for industrial parks.

The main activities were led by Director Jing-zhou Tang of the Department of Professional Studies for International Students of STUST, Director Shen-zhou Chang of the Department of International Professional Studies of Kunshan University of Science and Technology, Chairman Zhi-gang Wang of the Yongkang Industrial Zone Manufacturers Association, Director Shiu-jing Huang of the Department of International Studies of CITIC University of Science and Technology, and Director Tsui-ling Huang of the Career Development Center of Wenzao University of Foreign Languages. They shared their ideas and insights about the current situation of promoting specialty classes in each school in line with government policies, future implementation plans, and cooperation strategies and cases. Companies such as Tongrong Steel and Catcher Technology also proposed that international students should stay in Taiwan after graduation. As well as issues such as transportation and accommodation for specialty class students, each partner school gave the most appropriate and practical explanations.

Professor De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, pointed out that the key driving force for industrial transformation and technological innovation is talent. Only through the continuous circulation of talents can we cope with the rapidly changing industrial market. Regardless of whether the industry is smart or low-carbon, the upgrading and transformation process requires talents, technology, and funds as the driving force. Universities assist enterprises in cultivating the talents they need, which creates the value of creating win-win opportunities for schools and enterprises. This time STUST has joined forces with major partner schools to propose solutions to corporate talent pain points, cultivate international high-quality talents, and use international students to drive the international outlook and competitive advantages of domestic students to achieve seamless integration with industry and promote students The goal of finding employment after graduation also fully demonstrates STUST’s determination and efforts to fully invest in the cultivation of sustainable talents. STUST also looks forward to continued healthy development with the industry in the future, conducting multi-party cooperation and exchanges and improving students to become an indispensable core competition for the sustainable development of enterprises.
