  STUST conducted the Ministry of Education's the 2024 Traffic Safety Seed Teacher Training in Colleges and Universities to actively protect students' traffic safety    2024/8/29    

 

In order to strengthen students' traffic safety education, expand the effectiveness of education, and enhance students' relevant knowledge, the Ministry of Education specially invited STUST to hold the National College Traffic Safety Seed Teacher Training at the Far Eastern Shangri-La Hotel in Tainan. This event attracted 132 traffic safety personnel from various schools to participate. Through policy prospectus, motorcycle safety driving practice, and other courses, the event contributed a lot to effectively preventing the occurrence of traffic accidents among students.

The event was presided over by Wen-yao Zheng, Representative of the Specialty Committee for Student Affairs and Specialty Education of the Ministry of Education. Zheng expressed her condolences and gratitude to the schools for their dedicated efforts to protect the safety of students riding motorcycles and walking. At the same time, it is hoped that through this training, the trainees will be able to deepen the teaching of traffic safety materials to students and that the current safety knowledge and concepts will be deeply ingrained in the hearts of campus students.

Zhen-chian Wang, Vice President of STUST, delivered a speech emphasizing that it was an honor for the university to have this opportunity to host this nationwide traffic safety seed teacher training in colleges and universities. Through the sharing and exchange of experiences between schools, participants built consensus and boost work morale. It is hoped that each school can promote traffic safety business from a macro perspective and further help students acquire correct safe driving concepts and correct traffic knowledge.

The training course invited Yun-gui Huang, Director of Road Affairs and Road Safety of the Ministry of Transport, to give a special lecture on "Current Road Safety Effectiveness and Policy Explanation," introducing topics such as statistical analysis of road safety accidents in recent years, road safety incident prevention strategies, and road safety promotion priorities. Professor Gao-cun Chen of the Central Police University delivered a special lecture on "Characteristics and Prevention Methods of Domestic Traffic Accidents." Through actual case analysis, he emphasized the importance of accident prevention, aftermath handling, and the improvement of the road safety in response to publicity knowledge of the personnel in charge of each school.

In the afternoon, Professor Zong-shiu Wu of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University was invited to give a special lecture on "Defensive Driving and Hazard Perception Ability," and Professor Shou-ren Hu of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University was invited to give a special lecture on "Traffic Safety Education Lesson Plan Seminar" to enable the trainees to improve their traffic safety education. The Ministry of Education hoped that through the exchange activities of the conference, participants would have the opportunity to observe and learn from each other and pass on their experiences, so that the overall campus traffic safety work can become more perfect in the future, and it will be more helpful to teachers and students’ campus traffic safety and housing leasing work. 

De-guang Chou, Acting President of STUST, said he felt much honored and had a great responsibility to be able to host this Ministry of Education's Traffic Safety Seed Teacher Training in Colleges and Universities event. Traffic safety is a topic that every student should pay attention to. Through this training, it is hoped to improve the professional knowledge and practical capabilities of traffic safety personnel in each school, promoting correct traffic safety concepts nationwide.
