Chairman Hsin-shiong Chang: STUST will continue to work on cross-domain innovation. Hsin-shiong Chang, Chairman of STUST, said that in the past 55 years, STUST has always adhered to the concept of "running a first-class university and teaching first-class students," actively promoting cross-domain integration, and encourageing teachers and students to conduct innovative research. In the future, STUST will continue to delve into potential research domains, such as AI and green energy, and cultivate high-level talents with cross-domain integration capabilities.
President Neng-fu Huang: Cultivation of AI talents is the primary goal. President Neng-fu Huang emphasized that with the advent of the AI era, STUST will take the cultivation of AI talents as its primary goal. The university has built AI Maker to provide teachers and students with a platform to implement AI and accelerate the cultivation of AI talents. In addition, STUST is also actively cooperating with industries to jointly develop AI applications to respond to industry needs.
R&D and creative capabilities are highly and generally recognized The College of Engineering received a grant of NT$85 million from the Ministry of Education to establish the Smart Microgrid Industry Talent and Technology Training Base. The Department of International Business once again won the global finals championship of the 2024 Global Brand Planning Competition. General Manager Yi-shiang Lin, an EMBA alumnus, won the Top 100 MVP Managers. Students from the Department of Hospitality Management won several awards, including 1 statuette, 5 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the 2024 Tainan City of Food International Culinary Challenge; 2 bronze medals and 2 bronze medals in the 2024 TCAC Taiwan International Culinary Challenge; 1 Excellence Award, 2 gold medals, and 1 silver medal in the 2024 Singapore Dining Challenge. The College of Digital Design won multiple awards at the 43rd New Generation Design Exhibition in 2024: Golden Pin Rookie Best Design Award of the Year, Golden Pin Rookie Circular Design Special Award, Golden Pin Rookie Packaging Design Special Award. The college also won 3 Judges’ Awards and 8 Choice Awards at the 2024 Youth Design Festival; 2 Purple Green Quality Awards, 1 Excellence Award, and 2 Internet Popularity Awards in the corporate sustainable ESG campus short film selection competition for environmental protection; the Industry-Academic Cooperation Contribution Award in the 2024 Times Golden Calf International Competition, known as the "Oscar Award for Creative Youth. In the same competition, the Department of Information and Communication won the Technical Category - Best Photography and Videography Award", 3 third places, and 6 winning awards. The Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science won the third place and the Department of Visual Communication Design won the winning award. The Department of Creative Product Design won the 2024 American Outstanding Industrial Design Award and the Design Concept Award of the German Red Dot Design Award.
In terms of USR University Social Responsibility Practice Project, STUST also performed well. The Local Creation and Dissemination of Cultural Heritage—Fucheng vs. Yuejin USR Project won the Bronze Award for Sustainable Micro Film at the 2024 Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Film Exhibition. The Carbon Storage and Fishing USR Project won the Taiwan Sustainability Action Award-Silver Award. The Cross-Legacy USR Project won the first place in Social Inclusion Leadership Award of the Taiwan Sustainability University Award. Teachers and students of STUST participated in the competition and achieved continuous success, and all the teachers and students of STUST shared the glory.
Taking the lead in AI education STUST is one of the first universities in Taiwan to invest in AI education. It cooperates with nVidia, jointly promoting the application of AI technology in smart medical care, smart manufacturing, and many other fields. STUST has also established AI Maker to provide students with a practical platform to cultivate talents with practical AI capabilities.
Paying equal attention to internationalization and social responsibility STUST actively expands its international exchanges, having signed cooperation agreements with many universities around the world, established the Department of International Studies to recruit international students. The university also actively participates in social services and promotes sustainable development.
