  Intelligent medical achievements are eye-catching: STUST Intelligent Health Medical Technology Research Center has developed 15 research with great development results—HomeDIA has won multiple awards    2024/12/18    

 

The Intelligent Health and Medical Technology Center of STUST recently held a display of 113 annual research and development achievements. Guests and partners were invited, including Director Rong-chuan Lin of the Bureau of Economic Development of Tainan City, Vice President Min-wei Huang of Kaohsiung Municipal Kaishuan Hospital, Director Jun-hong Chang and Supervisor Shiu-pei Wang of Tainan Municipal Annan Hospital, Director Jian-cheng Huang of the Department of Emergency Medicine of Chimei Hospital, Director Zhi-yang Zheng of the Intelligent Medical Management Center of the Tainan Branch of Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Director Hong-ming Wu of the Industrial and Academic Operations Office of Sun Yat-sen Medical University, Director Yi-hua Zhong of the New Business Operations Center, Director Jing-shian Chen of the Department of Nutrition Department, Chairman Zhi-wei Hsu of Lianzhi Science and Technology Co., Ltd., CEO Lin-yi Jiang of Ruyishuan Technology Co., Ltd., and CEO Jia-liang Cheng of Leching Culture and Education Co., Ltd.

The Intelligent Health and Medical Technology Center is the school-level research center of STUST. It is also the unit and plan that implements the research center in the characteristic fields of the second part of the higher education in-depth development plan. This project is about to be completed for 2 years, and 15 research and development results was displayed.

As this project is in line with government policies, the research topic is focused on Hospital at home (HaH), and efforts have been made in the direction of health monitoring, rehabilitation assistance, interactive experience, information integration, and AR applications. The exhibited works include:

"HomeDIA Home Peritoneal Dialysis Intelligent Assistant" won the Gold Award and the Best Creative Award in the Application Group of the Macronix Golden Silicon Awards, receiving funding from the UStart Entrepreneurship Service Program to establish a spin-off company. "Multi-dimensional Silver Nanocoated Stretchable Conductive Fiber Strain Sensor" won the Future Technology Award at the 2024 Taiwan Innovation Technology Expo. The "Sarcopenia Measurement System" saw STUST cooperate with Kaishuan Hospital's work through the Sports Technology and Smart Medical Industry-Academic Alliance-Digital Health Industry-Academic Project, granted by National Science Council. The former received a subsidy of NT$ 1,300,000 from the National Science Council and an enterprise grant of NT$ 2,280,929, and the latter received a national science and technology grant from the National Science Council. The Science and Technology Association will provide a subsidy of NT$ 2,600,000, and the enterprise will provide a matching fund of NT$ 4 million. The "Smart Hearing Assistive System" passed the Crystal Taiwan program, with a first-year funding of NT$10.6 million, and won the National Science Council Industry-Academic Project with Zozhen Company; the "Plug and Play Roller-type Smart Pill Box" won the UStart Entrepreneurship Service plans to establish a spin-off company. A great number of other works include: Smart building blocks, 3D visual nursing and rehabilitation information assistance system, real-time monitoring of patients' physiological status devices, smart magic cubes, Bike Fitting bicycle riding posture detection, smart fatigue monitoring system, smart running posture analysis system, and immersive CPR training system. The non-invasive blood glucose monitor and the Handycare hand edema rehabilitation system also show great performance..

In addition to the practical display of relevant works, this exhibition also included a symposium to discuss the key challenges, solutions and promotion strategies for the implementation of Hospital at home (HaH), co-hosted by Vice President Zhen-chian Wang, Vice President Min-wei Huang, and Director Zhi-wei Hsu. During the meeting, Director Huang Jiancheng of Chimei Hospital, who is mainly responsible for home-based medical care, shared his personal experience and important research issues.

President Neng-fu Huang of STUST said that STUST has accumulated profound achievements in research and development and talent cultivation in the field of advanced biomedicine over the years. It is expected that through solid practical experience, industry-university links, and cooperation with partner hospitals, STUST can establish sustainable cross-domain practical applied research and cultivate R&D and talents to provide industry needs.
