On that day, Vice President De-guang Chou of STUST attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech to encourage the students. Vice President Chou said in his speech that due to work commitments, he occasionally visits universities in Europe and the United States to give short-term lectures. Recently, he also visited the Czech Republic. He added that Japanese universities also maintain frequent exchanges with STUST. For example, Kumamoto University, where TSMC has a factory, has established a dual-degree collaboration with the STUST. During these interactions, he observed that European and American societies tend to emphasize individualism and personal performance, whereas Japan focuses more on teamwork and overall performance. He also mentioned that Japan has excellent transportation infrastructure and public security and is a popular destination for Chinese tourists. He encouraged students to take this opportunity to observe, ask questions, and learn more.
