  Students' Employability Improves: STUST’s Career Counseling Achieved Another Success with NT$6.63 Million in Funding from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor    2025/2/8    

 

Forward-Looking Planning and Career Development Recognized 

In recent years, STUST has actively promoted students' career development. Its Research Development and Industry-University Cooperation Office – Career Development Group has received high recognition and financial support from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor for its outstanding career counseling efforts. The university has been awarded funding for multiple initiatives, including the Ministry of Education's "Career Counseling Subsidy Program for Colleges and Universities," the "Pilot Program for Professional Employment Counseling for International Students in Taiwan," and the Ministry of Labor's "Employment Service Subsidy Program in Cooperation with Colleges and Universities." These funds will be allocated to workplace internships, teaching material development, and employment counseling for international students, with the goal of enhancing students' career planning abilities and overall employability.

Diversified Plans to Enhance Employment Competitiveness 

Tsong-yuan Guo, Director of Research and Development at STUST, highlighted key aspects of the project, including:

Workplace Internship – "STUST Innovation" Alumni Industry Internship Training: A program that connects students with alumni and enterprises, providing valuable hands-on internship opportunities to help them gain early exposure to workplace dynamics.

Teaching Material Development: Career planning is integrated into professional courses such as "Emotions in Mechanical Life" and "Information Communication Course" to help students develop specific career-related skills.

Employment Counseling for International Students in Taiwan: Dedicated support for international students, including job search assistance and career guidance, to help them successfully transition into the Taiwanese workforce.

"One Department, One Career Advisor" Initiative: Each department assigns a career advisor to provide students with personalized career guidance and job search advice.

Industry-University Cooperation: Integrating Learning and Practice to Cultivate Talent 

President Neng-fu Huang of STUST emphasized the university’s commitment to strong industry-university partnerships. Collaborating with such leading companies as TSMC, UMC, and President Enterprises, the university adheres to a "pragmatic and practical" education philosophy. Through an integrated "learning and applying" approach, students are equipped with essential skills in applied technology and industry collaboration, ensuring that they can seamlessly transition into the corporate world upon graduation. Additionally, the university will host a career event, "Explore Your Future: Career Partners Are with You," on February 12. This event will incorporate cultural elements from the Lantern Festival and feature interactive activities, including level-breaking games and hands-on experiences, to help students discover their interests and gain insights into the workplace environment.
