  STUST Has Created an Internationally Friendly Campus to Help Freshmen Integrate Through Chinese Language Experience Activities, Showcasing a New Vision of Education    2025/2/17    

 

STUST recently hosted the 2025 International Student Chinese Language Experience Activity, attracting 66 international students from 10 countries, including Indonesia, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Mongolia, Myanmar, Belize, and Tanzania. The event aimed to help international freshmen become familiar with Taiwanese culture and the Chinese language, provide essential information about life in Taiwan and on campus, and facilitate a smooth transition into university life. Vice President Te-kuang Chou, along with the Director of International Affairs and the deans of various colleges, attended the event, engaging in friendly exchanges with the international students. Their presence underscored STUST’s commitment to fostering cross-cultural interactions, ensuring that international students can study with peace of mind and thrive in a warm and welcoming environment.

The Chinese Language Center at STUST is distinguished by its professional faculty, innovative teaching methods, and immersive learning environment. It offers small-class Chinese language instruction, integrating real-life scenarios and cultural experiences to enhance learning outcomes. This event featured a thoughtfully designed series of Chinese cultural experiences. Cultural Beauty Experience Area offers students to engage in calligraphy and Chinese painting, writing spring festival couplets by hand to appreciate the artistic beauty of brush, ink, paper, and ink-stone. STUST Exclusive Experience Area offers a creative bag-making activity to encourage students to incorporate Chinese cultural elements into art, fostering artistic expression. Learning in Taiwan Experience Area provides participants with comprehensive information on the university, local tourism, and daily life in Taiwan to help students acclimate to their new environment. Local Mini Game Experience Area allows students to participate in traditional Taiwanese children’s games, such as hanging wine bottles, playing shuttlecock, and hopscotch, encouraging them to experience Taiwan’s folk culture in a fun and interactive way.

In his speech, Vice President Te-kuang Chou reiterated the university’s long-standing dedication to fostering an international campus environment, focusing on professional skill development, cross-cultural exchange, and holistic education. He assured that the university will continue to provide the best educational resources, enabling international students to thrive in STUST and boldly pursue their aspirations.

【To further support international students, STUST invited representatives from the Bureaus of immigration, police, and labor to provide valuable insights on living in Taiwan, ensuring that students have the necessary skills to adapt to living and become successful in learning.】

STUST adheres to a pragmatic educational philosophy, balancing theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice to cultivate highly skilled and capable professionals. The university actively promotes internationalization and has signed sister school agreements with over 220 universities and institutions worldwide. Through various exchange initiatives—including dual-degree programs, student exchange programs, overseas internships, transnational industry-academia collaborations, and international competitions—the university has created an immersive global learning environment. Notably, the College of Business has received AACSB accreditation, placing it among the top 6% of business schools worldwide. In addition, the university actively promotes all-English instruction programs across diverse fields, such as engineering, business management, information technology, and digital design, effectively boosting students’ international competitiveness.

Looking ahead, STUST will continue to strengthen its international character, expand its global industry-academia cooperation network, and create a top-tier learning platform that integrates professional expertise with a global perspective. By doing so, the university aims to cultivate more internationally competitive professionals and contribute to a new chapter in Taiwan’s higher education development on the global stage.
