On April 19, 2025, the 2025 Higher Education and High-Tech Industry Trends Forum, co-organized by the Southern Taiwan Alumni Association of National Tsing Hua University and STUST, successfully concluded at STUST. This forum brought together more than 120 prominent figures from industry, government, and academia. It focused on sharing new publications and development trends in higher education and the high-tech industry, with the aim of jointly planning the future development of Taiwan’s higher education and high-tech sectors.

One of the highlights of the forum was the sharing of his autobiography, The Path to Excellence, by Honorary Chair Professor Wen-tsun Chen, who is the former President of National Tsing Hua University. Drawing on his extensive academic and industry experience, Professor Chen analyzed the historical development of Taiwan’s high-tech industry and offered insights into its future. He emphasized the significance of information and communication technology and discussed its contributions to education, internet development, and industry advancement. His remarkable accomplishments earned widespread admiration from the audience. Professor Chen also generously donated the royalties from his book to establish the "Love of Tsing Fund," which will support students.

The afternoon’s special workshop was hosted by Zhi-li Wang, President of the Southern Taiwan Alumni Association of National Tsing Hua University, focusing on “The Vision and Outlook of Taiwan’s Information and Communications Technology and Semiconductor Industries.” President Neng-fu Huang of STUST emphasized the importance of cultivating practical AI talents with the theme "AI Maker – Practical AI Talent Training Platform." He used smart agriculture as an example to demonstrate the framework for AI talent cultivation and actively promoted the establishment of the "Industry-Academic AI Computing Power Alliance." International Dean Sun-yuan Shie of National Cheng Kung University's highlighted R&D, industry-academic collaboration, and international exchange in the emerging information and communications field. He analyzed key trends including 6G, AI, the Internet of Things, quantum communications, and edge computing, sharing the university’s efforts in global cooperation. Director Shi-jie Chang of the Institute of Optoelectronics at the Industrial Technology Research Institute discussed AI-driven innovation in the semiconductor industry and the national AI innovation program. Jun-yi Fan, CEO of the Institute for Information Industry Promotion, addressed challenges in information security and outlined the organization’s role in integrating software and hardware solutions.
