Professor Huang Neng-fu, President of STUST, received the 2025 K. T. Li AI Special Contribution Award from the Information Society of the Republic of China. The award recognizes his visionary research, innovative applications in artificial intelligence, and significant efforts in cultivating AI talent. The award ceremony took place on the 27th at the former residence of Mr. Kuo-ting Li in Taipei City.

President Huang Neng-fu’s exceptional leadership in AI education has earned widespread recognition not only from the academic sector but also from the business community. In February 2025, Global Vision magazine published its "Enterprises’ Favorite College Students" survey, in which STUST ranked first among private universities of science and technology nationwide. STUST also maintained its leading position among southern Taiwan’s private universities in both the "Financial Industry’s Favorite College Students" and "Companies' Favorite Interns" rankings, showcasing its strong reputation in talent cultivation.

The K. T. Li AI Special Contribution Award aims to honor domestic AI scholars and industry experts who have made outstanding and significant contributions to AI research and its practical applications. President Huang Neng-fu's receipt of this award clearly reflects his deep involvement and leadership in the AI domain. Global Vision magazine previously featured him in a January interview under the title "AI Education Maker," highlighting his visionary insights and practical efforts in AI education—making this recognition well deserved.
President Huang Neng-fu previously served as a distinguished professor in the Department of Information Engineering, College of Electrical and Computer Science at National Tsing Hua University. With a strong academic background and extensive industry experience, he achieved remarkable results in areas such as information security, the Internet of Things, and smart agriculture during his tenure as Dean of the College of Electrical and Computer Science and Director and Professor of the Department of Information Engineering. Notably, he founded the Moocs platform, reflecting his innovative spirit in educational technology. With over 35 years of teaching at National Tsing Hua University and numerous teaching awards, he exemplifies passion and dedication to education.
Of special note is President Huang’s application of AI expertise to support his hometown of Hualien. By collaborating with the "Achiang Watermelon" team, he utilized AI technology to enhance the efficiency and quality of watermelon cultivation. This effort earned them second place in the National Young Farmers Innovation and Value-added Team Management Competition, demonstrating the vast potential of AI in practical industrial applications.
Since assuming the presidency of STUST in December 2024, President Huang Neng-fu has actively driven the university's transformation into a “practical AI technology university.” With a forward-looking vision, he has worked to establish Taiwan’s first “AI Practical Field AI Maker,” empowering students to gain AI knowledge through hands-on experience, develop practical AI capabilities, and become the next generation of AI professionals needed across industries. These efforts align closely with the Global Vision magazine survey results, which recognized the university as a corporate favorite.
