【“Armature AR Smart Rehabilitation Prostheses” by the Department of Innovative Product Design creates the best prosthetic hands for those in need.】

Ranked first in the Industrial Design Group, "Armature AR Smart Rehabilitation Prostheses" is a customized prosthetic aid for elbow amputees designed and produced by students from the Department of Innovative Product Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, including Jia-Yan Chuang, Hao Wang, Yi-Rong Cheng, and Wan-Yu Lin. The produce can quickly create customized prosthetic limbs for patients through 3D printing. Patients can wear Armature for AR rehabilitation at home. Rehabilitation records are uploaded to the cloud for rehabilitators to adjust their rehab courses according to the cloud's rehabilitation records, thereby accelerating prosthetic adaptation and achieving the best rehabilitation effect. Prof. Kun Ouyang, the team advisor, said that the product is an actual product. Different from the previous concept of student-oriented products, the students need to develop and apply the concept to the demanders. The award-winning students expressed considerable gratitude to the school for various resources and cross-domain aids. The openness of cooperation and the development process were particularly supported by YGH Group and the Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science in terms of guidance and assistance, with which the product could be fully presented.

【“Bántȇ Research on the Development of Tea-Picking Behavior and Innovative Products,” by the Department of Innovative Product Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won third place in the Industrial Design Group.】

“Bántȇ Research on the Development of Tea-Picking Behavior and Innovative Products,” which won third place in the Industrial Design Group, was directed by Prof. Ya-Lin Chen and Kun Ouyang, the Department of Innovative Product Design of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The team includes Wan-Ru Tseng, Yu-Shan Wu, Wei-Jia Wun, Rong-Shan Chen, and Ji-Sen Tsai. The design concept is based on from fact that tea-picking workers are relatively necessary because of the geographical situation in Taiwan and the tools used by tea-picking workers are mostly used together with existing products. In the case of aging workers and long-term working, tea-picking often caused cuts and heat to them. Muscle soreness and other conditions not only affect the quality of the produced tea, but also cause many physiological hazards to tea pickers. Bántȇ Design aims at improving the overall equipment for the tea-picking process, including the knives that improve work efficiency and ease of wear, gloves and garments that are professionally equipped, and teacups and innovative braces that are comfortable and convenient to carry. It is expected to greatly reduce work injuries and also enhance the professional image of tea pickers, making the tea picking culture in Taiwan widely known to the world.

【“The Wish of Mouse" by the Department of Visual Communication and Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won second place in the Animation Multimedia Group.】

The Wish of The Wishing, The Wish of the Mouse, which won second place in the animated interactive multimedia group, was directed by Prof. Tsen-Hung Liu of the Department of Visual Communication Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, jointly completed by Bao-Chen Su, Si-Chi Huang, Shang-Yun Chang, and Zhi-Hua Chang. The work uses "jigsaw puzzles" as a link between the father and the son, mainly explaining the grief of white-haired parents seeing their children die. According to some folklore, if there are people living in the world who still miss very much one who died, the dead one would not be able to go to his or her next life. In the work, the son, with a missing piece of puzzle, discovers that his dad can't let go of his feelings. He makes a lot of efforts to help his dad put down all the care in his heart.

【"Southern Taiwan Student Formula Racing" by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won third place in the Mechanical and Power Machinery Group.】

The “Southern Taiwan Student Formula Racing” won third place in the Mechanical and Power Machinery Group. It was led by Prof. Jin-Wei Chang of the Department of Mechanical Engineering , Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and jointly completed by Pin-Fu Huang, You-Rong Dong, Jun-Hao Chen, Ying-Fei Wu, Guan-Yu Lin, Jun-Han Wu, Cheng-Chi Wang, Jing-Yu Hong, Meng-Hua Jiang, Zhen Lai, and Hao-Ren Chen. The work had participated in the racing car of the Formula Student Race organized by the American Automobile Engineering Society. The entire car, developing from conception, design, manufacturing to a completed one driven on the road, was completed all by the students. In order to build a lightweight car, the team used 6061 aluminum alloy to lower body weight and increase the mechanical strength. In order to achieve a good power output, they used HONDA CBR F4I 600c.c. four-cylinder engine; in order to get the shortest acceleration time, they designed a drive gear based on numerical simulation. The steering design followed the Ackermann steering geometry principle. After the frame design was completed, the torsional stiffness and the brake force analysis were completed through ANSYS, and the safety strength was thereby confirmed. After With all their teamwork and cooperation, they have designed and built an formula car that meets international standards.

As President Deng-Maw Lu of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said, the purpose of the technical and vocational education is to balance theoretical and practical skills to cultivate high-tech talents that are used together by hands and brains. Each year, STUST invests more than NT$ 10 million dollars in students as a special fund and provides teachers bonuses to encourage them to help students work on special topics and participate in domestic and international competitions. Each year, the number of domestic and international awards exceeds 800, and STUST has become one of the best in the country. Through competitions, students’ interest in practice can be enhanced through entertaining, and the theories learned in the classroom can be applied to projects.
