Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology hosted the 2019 Pacific Enterprise Forum.

Department of International Business, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, held the 2019 Pacific Enterprise Forum" recently to discuss the “Opportunities and Challenges of Taiwan's Economy in 2019." The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ming-Tsai Lai, Vice President of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Invited guests included General Secretary Da-Sheng Chiu of CTPECC, Director Ming-De Sun of Prosperity Prediction Center of the Taiwan Economic Research Institute, Director Shiu-Fen Chou of the Tainan Office of ROC Foreign Trade Development Association, Director Jin-Tian Lin of the Southern District Joint Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Deputy Director Shi-Hao Wang of Tainan City Industrial and Commercial Development Investment, and many other honorable guests.

【The 2019 Pacific Enterprise Forum】

The event was co-sponsored by the Chinese Taipei Pacific Economic Cooperation Committee (CTPECC) and the Department of International Business, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, co-organized by the Southern District Joint Service Center of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Tainan City Industrial and Commercial Development Investment Policy Association, and the Tainan City Small and Medium Enterprises the Honorary Instructor Association. The participants from the industry and academia were more than 200. The seminar, focused on the recent international political and economic development trends, analyzed the challenges and opportunities faced by Taiwan manufacturers. It aimed to help the public grasp the government's thinking in economic development, enhance the links of value chain between Taiwan and the world, and open up a new era.

In the morning, Dr. Ming-De Sun, Director of the Economic Forecasting Center of the Taiwan Economic Research Institute, delivered a special speech. Director Sun explained the development of international trade and economics in detail, employing various economic statistics to help the guests understand the current situation of the global economy and Taiwan. Director Sun also pointed out the challenges and threats that Taiwan's economic development currently face, with official and industrial advice to enhance Taiwan's economic performance.

In the afternoon, three guests were invited to be the key speakers. The Secretary-General of CTPECC Da-Sheng Chiu and Assistant Researcher Bo-Chin Chang of Taiwan Economic Research Institute conducted incisive analysis and suggestions on the current situation of international political and economic affairs, Taiwan's policies in response, and the development of Taiwan’s foreign trade. Commissioner Bo-Wei Hsu of the Association's Tainan Office put forward valuable experience and suggestions on how to use the trade association services to expand overseas markets, which enhanced the international perspective of the guests and brought the attendees a full harvest.

Dr. Ming-Tsai Lai, Academic Vice President of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said in his speech that CTPECC has held the Pacific Enterprise Forum in various places in recent years. People discuss it and hope to establish a cross-domain communication bridge by forming a platform for knowledge dissemination and promotion.
