Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won nine prizes in the 14th HOLTEK MCU National Creativity Competition

The 14th HOLTEK MCU National Creativity Competition recently held its final at the National Changhua Normal University. The three teams of students from the Department of Creative Product Design and the Department of Electronic Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, collaborated and dominated the final, winning nine prizes: the Gold, Bronze, and Outstanding Awards of "Group A—Smart Toy / Creative Product Demonstration Group"; first and second prizes of Product Design Award; second and third prizes of the Infinitive Creative Application Award; third prize of Smart Bicycle and Health Technology Application Award; first place of Environmental Monitoring and Smart Green Energy Application Award

【The work “Gogoal" by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the Bronze Medal of the 14th HOLTEK MCU National Creativity Competition, Second Prize of Product Design Award, Second Prize of Infinitive Creative Application Award, and Smart Bicycle and Health Technology Application Award; Third Prize of Environmental Monitoring and Smart Green Energy Application Award】

The HOLTEK MCU Creativity Competition hosted by Holtek Semiconductor has been held for 14 consecutive years. This year the competition is hosted by National Changhua Normal University, directed by the Office of Smart Electronics Industry Planning of the Industrial Bureau, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and co-organized by the Office of Academia-Industrial Cooperation and Talent Cultivation Platform, the Ministry of Education, Yucai Platform Executive Office of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Cycling and Health Technology Industry Research and Development Center. It was sponsored by Xinhong Electronics, Yewei Technology, Youfang Technology, and Betron Technology, hoping that students could have more opportunities to exchange their ideas.

【"VAS (Vacuum Air System) sports aerobic cycling cap" by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won an outstanding award and first prize of Environmental Monitoring and Smart Green Energy Application in the 14th HOLTEK MCU National Creativity Competition."】

The team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology included Wei-Ming Gao, Ying-Jie Wang, Han-Jie Liu, Feng-Jia Zheng, Yang-Di Shie, Yi-Jie Zhu, Xin-Kai Chen, Yong-Di Chen from the Department of Creative Product Design, and Wen-De Chen, Jia-Shiang Cheng, Liang-Hong Shie, Yi-Kai Fang, and Jun-Ming Shu from the Department of Electronic Engineering. The team achieved excellent results under the guidance of Associate Professor Kun Ouyang and Assistant Professor Da-Chi Liu from the Department of Creative Product Design and Professor Zhao-Tang Yu, Chairman of the Department of Electronic Engineering.

【"Animal Adventure" by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the gold medal, first place in Product Design Award, and third place of Infinitive Creative Application Award in the 14th HOLTEK MCU National Creativity Competition.】

The work "Animal Adventure,” which won the gold medal, first place in Product Design Award, and third place in Infinitive Creative Application Award, is a game specially designed for preschool children. It is designed with the theme of animals in the African steppe, in the hope to stop children from becoming too dependent on 3C products. At the same time, the work allows children to have more interaction with parents through games, learn about animals from games, and get fully entertained.

The work "GOGOAL", which won the Bronze Medal, second place in the Product Design Award, second place in Infinitive Creative Application Award, and third place in Smart Cycling and Health Technology Application Award, is an ADHD home training system for children with hyperactivity disorder, which can improve children’s visual perception and concentration. In cooperation with the therapists of Kaohsiung Medical University, the team added sensory training to exercise so as to promote dopamine secretion and improve core symptoms of ADHD. With parent-child games, this work can increase children’s learning motivation and their family relationships. It can communicate with the therapists through APP transmission data to improve treatment efficiency, making it possible for professional treatment to be performed at home.

The "VAS (Vacuum Air System)" sports aerobic cycling hat, which won an Outstanding Award and first prize in Environmental Monitoring and Smart Green Energy Application Award, is a helmet that can filter the fine suspended particles in the air and actively provide the user with fresh air, allowing the user to breathe clean air while riding his/her bicycle and control his/her physical condition at any time through the bundled APP.

The teachers and students of the winning team expressed their gratitude to the university for its support in making it possible for them to join the competition. With the efforts of the students across the College of Digital Design and the College of Engineering could work together to discuss and solve the problems and finally achieved good results.
