STUST has assisted the Bureau of Public Health in holding the achievement presentation of Fuchen Food Safety Project for six years as a practice of sustainability

STUST held the 2022 Bilingual Education, Innovative Teaching and Assessment Conference at the Concert Hall of Wenbing Building, which was sponsored and guided by the Ministry of Education, organized by College of Humanities and Social Sciences of STUST, and supported by Language Testing and Training Center (LTTC). Scholars and experts from international and domestic colleges and universities were invited to give lectures and speeches, including Associate Professor Ute Knoch, Director of the Language Testing Center of the University of Melbourne, Australia; Associate Professor Tomoko Ishii of the Liberal Arts Education Center of Gakuin University; Professor Hui-ping Chen, Vice President and Department of Education of National Tainan University; Director Ming-zhu Shie of the Mayor Office of Taipei City Government; and Professor Shu-juan Chen of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature of Soochow University. The conference also had scholars from various colleges and universities and about 200 teachers and students from departments of English and Japanese, preschool education, and senior education gather together for one-day speeches, research publications, and workshops. The atmosphere of exchange and discussion was enthusiastic and fruitful.

The conference, which took “Innovative Teaching and Assessment of Bilingual Education" as its main concept, encompassed five specific area, including "English Education and Evaluation", "Bilingual Education", "Educational Innovation", "Senior Health Care and Well-being" and "Teaching Innovation and Japanese Language Education." It focused on making Taiwan as a bilingual country in 2030 and the national policy for higher education to cultivate innovative teaching.

In the conference, two well-known scholars were invited to give speeches on the development and current situation of professional English education and all-English teaching. Associate Professor Ute Knoch of the University of Melbourne, Australia, gave a speech on "Conducting Needs Analyses to Improve Language for Specific Purposes Tests’ Fitness for Purpose: The Role of Domain Insiders." Through a series of studies conducted by the Language Testing Research Centre of the University of Melbourne, Prof. Knoch illustrated the process and importance of the involvement of domain experts in the development and validation of language-specific (LSP) assessment tests with high-stakes outcomes. She also illustrated how the inclusion of domain experts can inspire and influence professional language teaching and evaluation in the research and development direction of professional language evaluation of experts in specific domains. On the other hand, Professor Guang-wei Hu of Hong Kong Polytechnic University shared the results of several researches he had conducted on English-medium instruction (EMI) in many Chinese universities. Prof. Hu took the thorny issues and challenges of EMI from a Chinese perspective, and discussed the impact of these studies on the implementation of EMI in Chinese and other EFL environments. In addition, the conference invited four domestic and foreign scholars and experts, including Vice President Hui-ping Chen of National Tainan University, Associate Professor Tomoko Ishii of the Liberal Arts Education Center of Meiji Gakuin University, Director Ming-zhu Shie of the Mayor Office of Taipei City Government, and Professor Shu-juan Chen of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, Soochow University. They gave group speeches on four seminars: "English Education and Assessment", "Bilingual Education", "Senior Health Care and Well-being", and "Teaching Innovation and Japanese Language Education". In addition to the key speeches and group lectures, the conference also held three workshops for each grouping area, covering topics such as English literacy-oriented assessment, home safety relocation and placement for the elderly, and methods to improve Japanese vocabulary acquisition and learning willingness. While the emphasis was placed on practice, the topics covered all levels of education at the same time, benefiting all the participants in the conference.

The conference also selected 14 papers focused on the theme of the seminars and published professional research experience. In addition, 16 poster papers were also sponsored and supported by many English publishing houses in Taiwan. The latest publications, such as foreign language teaching, research and study, were provided for the participants to refer to, so as to expand the benefits of the seminars and add more academic atmosphere to the conference.
