Closing and Awarding of the 2019 Digital Signal Processing Creative Design Competition《2019/3/18》

The 14th Digital Signal Processing Creative Design Competition was held at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. On the day of the competition, Deng-Maw Lu, President of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, together with Academic vice president Ming-Tsai Lai, Chief Secretary Ching-An Wang, and Dean Chih-Liang Chu of the College of Engineering invited Distinguished Professor Sang-Zu Li, Distinguished Professor Shi-Jie Huang, and Chair Professor Zong-Shian Wu of NCKU; Distinguished Professor and Chief Secretary Guo-Kai Shiu of National Central University, Chair Professor Jun-Liang Lin and Distinguished Professor Ching-Chi Tsai of Chong Hsing University and many other academic experts, including Researcher Zhi-Yang Chen of Delta Electronics, Associate Manager of Ren-Jie He of Microchip Taiwan, , Manager Bai-Jun Li of Renesas Electronics, Director Shi-Zheng Hsueh of Innolux Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., Chairman Hong-Sheng Chen of Taiwan Embedded and Single Chip System Development Association, Associate Manager Jun-Ji Chen of Avnet Technology Co., Ltd. and Senior Application Engineer Jian-Cheng Chen of Texas Instruments Co., Ltd. There was a number of industry representatives attending the competition

【"Remote prenatal 3D ultrasound imaging system" on-site】

This competition has become an annual event of domestic universities and colleges of science and technology. Under the careful planning of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, its scale has been expanding. It has established an excellent reputation among the departments of electronics and information in Taiwan, given great acclaims and awards by the Ministry of Education. It has become more representative than most other domestic competition, highly valued by the domestic industry.

【Results of the competition】

In the preliminary competition, a total of 130 teams from 17 colleges and universities signed up, with more than 390 participants. The competition was divided into 6 groups: Software and Embedded Platform Application Group, Green Energy and Control Application Group, Health Care Application Group, Renesas Digital Signal Processor Application Group, Microchip Digital Signal Processor Application Group and TEMI IoT Application Group. Through the preliminary round, the finalists came from 15 universities, with 300 participants in a total of 108 outstanding teams (Software and Embedded Platform Application Group, 28 teams; Green Energy and Control Application Group, 20 teams; Health Care Application Group, 16 teams; Renesas Digital Signal Processor Application Group, 14 teams; Microchip Digital Signal Processor Application Group, 17 teams; and TEMI IoT Application Group, 13 teams).

【The 14th DSP Creative Design Competition made an offer to the winning team for its participation in the competition abroad: Remote Prenatal 3D Ultrasound Imaging System】

The competition was sponsored by internationally renowned single chip maker Renesas, Microchip, and Taiwan Embedded and Single Chip System Development Association. Their offered prize money to top 3 winning teams in "Renesas Digital Signal Processor Application Group," "Microchip Digital Signal Processor Application Group," and teams in the "TEMI IoT Application Group." In addition, the KLWC team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, which won the Remote Prenatal 3D Ultrasound Imaging System, was selected to participate in international competitions. 2 participants (student or teacher) from the team would be given NT$ 60,000 and living expenses NT$ 65,000 in order to have more outstanding performance.
