On the 8th of December, STUST published the achievements of the Advanced Smart Biomedical Research Center and held a press conference on the alliance of core partner hospitals. During the conference, distinguished guests were invited to attend the grand event, including Director Chun-di Yu of National Taiwan University Hospital, Director Hui-ting Huang of Tai Adventist Hospital, and Vice President Chuan-zhou Tu of Yuanrong Hospital, Director Shin-shu Chou of Chiayi Christian Hospital, Director Jian-feng Li of Chimei Hospital, and President Sheng-zhe Lin of Tainan Municipal Annan Hospital, and other many guests.

Since the 107th academic year, under the subsidy of the University of Science and Technology by the Ministry of Education, STUST has promoted the deep cultivation of professional technology research and development and talent cultivation programs through the joint health care and artificial intelligence technology research center of the school and the artificial intelligence medical integration research center of Chimei Hospital. Over the past five years, Chi Mei Hospital has integrated different AIoT digital technologies to introduce smart medical care for middle-aged and elderly people. The main axis of auxiliary technology has achieved fruitful research results. Looking forward to the next five years, the Advanced Biomedical Research Center will use the past, the two university-level centers, the Health Care and Artificial Intelligence Technology Research Center and the Zuozhen 5G+XR Metaverse Application Technology Research and Development Center, based on the R&D results laid out in the past five years, will expand the AI medical treatment of the six core partner hospitals outside the campus to cover research Center/Medical Research Department (Center) From south to north, including Chimei Hospital, Tainan Municipal Annan Hospital, Chiayi Christian Hospital, Yuanrong Hospital, Tai Adventist Hospital, Taipei Tri-Service General Hospital, National Taiwan University Hospital (including Yunlin Branch), etc. The seven major hospitals focus on the characteristic research field of middle-aged and advanced smart medical near-bed care and rehabilitation assistive technology, with the key technologies of the medical universe. By cooperating with the seven core partner hospitals and the health care industry, it is expected to build a high-level intelligent biomedical joint research center and become an important base for the research and development of medical metaverse technology in southern Taiwan.

The press conference exhibited medical metaverse, smart medical care and assistive technology, and other related works, such as remote care, preventive medicine, fall warning, home rehabilitation assistance, etc., allowing hospitals to actually experience the cross-domain integration application of metamedical metaverse Among them, the representative works of the medical universe that have been introduced into the AR smart glasses of Zuozhen Co., Ltd. include "Auxiliary Prosthesis for Glasses with Smart AR," which won the "2022 Future Technology Award" and the "2021 Ministry of Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incentive Program Entrepreneurial Excellence Award." It is also the first device using AI deep learning object detection technology to deduce the object type of the eye gaze point in the first-person perspective screen. It further controls the AI prosthetic arm to switch the corresponding gestures, assisting the upper limb amputation user to use appropriate hand movements with complete hand functions. The "AR Smart Glasses Long-term Care Patrol and Remote Consultation System," developed by combining AR smart glasses with AI applications, can conduct remote consultation related disease inquiries and medical treatment through real-time images from the first perspective of smart glasses. It can achieve long-term care ward rounds and telemedicine, in addition to addressing the issue of falls to which medical institutions attach great importance Through industry-university cooperation with Shiong-shin Technology Co., Ltd.,, the fall detection based on deep learning edge computing measurement system was commercialized and actually landed in medical and nursing institutions, such as National Taiwan University Hospital (including Yunlin Branch), Tai Adventist Hospital, Chi Mei Hospital, Annan Hospital Nursing Home, and Mennonite Senior Welfare Foundation Park in Tainan.

President Deng-maw Lu of STUST said that the school has obtained a total of 40 patents over the past four years in the field of advanced biomedical research and development and personnel training, and has published a total of 57 SCI journal papers, along with 97 foreign and 36 domestic seminar papers, and has won national/international competitions, with 25 research projects for junior college students of the Ministry of Science and Technology. STUST has accumulated profound achievements in practical application research, industry-university research and development, and talent cultivation. Drawing from the cross-university integration, STUST will join hands with seven core partner hospitals to focus on "middle-aged and advanced smart medical near-bed care and rehabilitation assistive technology," with the key technologies of the medical metaverse to establish the "Medical Metaverse Talent Cradle in Southern Taiwan." Practical experience and industry-university links provide the talents needed by the industry. STUST will continue to give back industry experience to the campus, laying the foundation for sustainable operations and striving to improve the integration of virtual and real talents in the metaverse of the medical field.
