Department of International Business, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, cooperated with the fragrant aesthetics—an affiliated company of Jian An Chuan Education Company in Singapore—and formed the team “Happy Unbirthday Tea” to participate in the “2018 ASEAN and Cross-Strait Undergraduate Foreign Trade Simulation and Trade Fair Competition, sponsored by Chinese International Economic and Trade Research Institute and the Taipei City Import and Export Commerce Association. The results of the competition were very impressive. It won first place in both the categories of Exhibition Design, Merchandise Display, and International Trade Fair Q&A Simulation of Exhibition Business Communication, plus second place in the category of International Knowledge on Exhibition Business Communication Simulation and the an Excellence Award in the category of Exhibition Plan. They won the champion overall.

The "Happy Unbirthday Tea" team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was jointly guided by Prof. Wei-Jen Yang, Prof. Mei-Jin Chu, and Prof. Shu-Ling Chang of the Department of International Business, together with Jia-Jun Lin of the Department of Visual Communication Design. In the product presentation, they presented their theme—“Happy Unbirthday”—with their lively product briefings and presentations, coupled with gorgeous songs and dances. Even the host compared himself to watching the "Happy Unbirthday Tea" team singing and dancing in a style that made him feel like being in the Disneyland.

In addition, under the guidance of Prof. Jia-Jun Lin, the team won first places in both Booth Design and Merchandise Display Project. Commenting on the evaluation of the product, Shu-Yi Chang, Deputy Chief Officer of the Trade Development Group of the International Trade Bureau, said that the color and design of the exhibition booth was consistent with the products and that the display did work to highlight the characteristics of the products. At the same time, the English interpretation of the exhibition site and the international trade Q&A on the exhibition site were also confirmed by all the honorable guests.

Prof. Wei-Jen Yang stated that under the general trend of global commerce towards cross-border e-commerce, international trade exhibitions are an important link for manufacturers to conduct B2B international marketing. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology International aims to train students with exhibitions and e-commerce for products released in marketing as well as their business English communication capabilities. In recent years, STUST has been actively participating in the various exhibitions and competitions, with great performances in different competitions. This time, STUST participated in the aesthetic competition with brand fragrance and the actual exhibition process of international trade and online marketing practice. The team practiced the teaching philosophy “learning while doing.” A lot of teams from China and ASEAN countries participated in the competition. Students were able to learn from each other and communicate with each other.
