Inter-disciplinary team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the Excellence Award of Product Innovation Group in Practical Creative Competition

Based on its "Digital Care Popularization Project," the SMEs Office of Ministry of Economic Affairs recently held "My Innovative DNA" Practical Creative Competition in the Republic of China Information Software Association. The competition selected 120 pieces from more than 800 entries before it selected 30 from 120 works to enter the finals.

The small and medium-sized enterprises and communications are not easy and the digital gap is wide. This industry-university cooperation competition is held in order to enable the local enterprises to upgrade their digital literacy, make use of local resources, and have more young consciousness and digitalization capabilities. It is hoped that students' creativity and imagination can bring new impacts on the local enterprises.

The competition invited companies to participate in the project, making students solve problems and find the key factors for local enterprises to break through the current situation. This was to inject vitality and creativity into the SMEs in the rural areas to make them more competitive. To solve the intractable problems in the product marketing and sales, the students had to come up with creative ideas.

The interdisciplinary team—"Cinderella"—was formed by Jun-Ting Tsai of the Department of International Business, Ya-En Ho of the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Li-Zhen Yan of the Department of International Business, directed by Prof. Ya-Ling Tsai of the Department of Marketing and Logistic Management, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The four departments worked together in an interdisciplinary field and won the Excellence Award by their masterpiece for product innovation. The work was mainly presented in three aspects: design concept, marketing promotion, and practical results. It included menu design, flyer design, business Facebook, launching activities, and innovative products. .

As Chairman Zhi-Ming Huang of the Department of Marketing and Circulation Management, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said, STUST attaches importance to the implementation of theory and practice, hoping to cultivate a competitive generation for Taiwan through the process of student participation and fostering practical ability and correct industrial outlook. It has fully integrated the business skills learned at school with high-tech marketing activities.
