Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held the 2019 Graduation Ceremony on June 1. The number of graduates were 4,405, for whom STUT organized three sessions—morning, afternoon, and evening—to allow all teachers, students, parents, and honorable guests to join the graduation ceremony. President Yin-Wen Tsai and Vice President Jian-Ren Chen sent a congratulatory message to all the graduates, hoping that they would establish specific goals, explore the future, meet the challenges with self-growth, and jointly contribute to the sustainable prosperity of our country. President Deng-Maw Lu, Chairman Hsin-Hsiong Chang, Chairman Yao-De Wang of the National Alumni Association of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology Alumni, and other honorable guests also showed their expectations that all the graduates would strive for their goals and ideals, become optimistic and enterprising individuals, and contribute to the nation and the society. The graduation ceremony draw from the theme "Pass the torch and make dreams," which means that all the graduates and alumni should pass on the torch, growing year by year marching towards success.

In recent years, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been flourishing, making great progress in both hardware and software facilities. After the completion of the "Golden Pavilion," "Inter-University Alliance Industrial Technology and Internship Building," and "Elderly Service Education Building," the campus planting and beautification and renovation of various buildings will enhance the teaching quality in a more comfortable teaching environment in the future. In addition, the teaching innovations of the "Teaching Excellence Program" and the "Model University of Science and Technology Project" sponsored by the Ministry of Education have both achieved their initial results. The performance of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is so good that it has reached the top. In 2019, it ranked first among private universities of science and technology and 6th of all nationwide, standing in line with all the national universities of science and technology, according to CHEERS magazine. This year, graduating students have many outstanding performances. Ming-Wei Su of the Department of Electronic Engineering won the largest scholarship in his junior year— "Hon Hai Scholarship" (NT$ 100,000), who has brilliant performances in his studies, extracurricular activities, and voluntary work, taking 15 licenses and participating in a number of information competitions. Ding-Kai Su of the Department of Electrical Engineering, who has served as the leader of his class for four years, participated in the 2017 National Microcomputer Application Design Competition sponsored by the Ministry of Education, winning first prize of the Intelligent Life Group and defeating many contestants from a lot of renowned national universities. Kai-Ming Huang of the Department of Chemical Materials, who has had a lot of excellent academic achievements and a total of nine scholarships, is a great model for younger students.

Fang-Ting Guo of the Department of Hospitality Management elected one of the national players for the World Skills Competition. She won the Excellency Award in the 2107 World Skills Competition in Abu Dhab, the United Arab Emirates, the Best Potential Award and Excellency Award of the 10th Demai Cup Baking Competition, third place in the 2018 New Taipei City Bakery Skills Competition, third place in the Southern District Division Skills Competition of the 46th National Skills Competition, and many other awards.

Wan-Zhen Li of the Department of Elderly Service also has excellent performances in terms of learning essentials. In November 2017, he represented the School of Humanities and Social Sciences to attend the ISAT16 International Symposium of Japan Institute of Technology and published a poster paper. He was awarded first place in the first session of the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Scholars Competition in the 107th academic year. She was elected the representative of the Southern Taiwan Youth Moral Model in the 106th academic year. She also won the Academic Elite Award in 105-107 academic years. In addition, during her studies 他STUST, she acquired a single-level attendant license, a senior sports health care assistant license, and a variety of license related to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automatic external cardiac defibrillator, basic lifesaver, BIM customer service manager, and CyberLink Certified Associate Power Director. She is certainly a great model for her younger brothers.

The College of Digital Design held its 2019 graduation exhibition, showing students’ amazing achievements. A great number of works won recognition in major design exhibitions. In the New Generation Design Exhibition this year, they won a total of 10 awards, including the New Generation Industry-University Cooperation Enterprise Awards. In 2019 Youth Design Festival Creative Design Competition, held by the Bureau of Culture, Kaohsiung City, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology became the biggest winner in the final, winning a total of 5 awards, including 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal, and 2 excellency awards. In the 2019 Digital Contents Competition and Exhibition, the college won the "Best School Award of the Year" for the fifth consecutive year. It also allowed the public to see the outstanding performance of the digital design and digital audio-visual fields in Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. It was the great teaching foundation that led the students to possession of such unique charm and strength of their dominant skills.

In order to welcome the graduation season, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held a grand "Lively Graduation Concert." Through the performances and dazzling lighting effects of the graduation concert, STUST brought to the graduates unforgettable memories. In addition, the STUST Graduation Committee brought a large installation art to the campus throughout the year. This year, with the theme of windmills and sailing styles, the committee brought its blessing to the graduates, wishing them a great smooth sailing. Combined with the campus trees and lighting design, the installation art indicates a wish to "pass the torch and let dreams fly." It became a popular photo attraction on campus. The 2019 graduation ceremony lasted until 8 p.m., with more than 7,000 people attending it. Parents, under the leadership of their children, visited the beautiful campus and had an unforgettable memory of the university before the installation art.

In the speech, Dr. Hsin-Hsiong Chang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, encouraged the graduates to “dedicate to bring strength,” to “have right attitude for the future,” and to “set great goals.” He also encouraged the graduates with the words that Lisa Borders said on May 12, 2019 when she was invited to speak to the graduates of Duke University: "courage to start, strength to endure, and resolve to finish." President Deng-Maw Lu said in his speech that the founding of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology for 50 years has followed the needs of the times and industries. Up to now, the performance of STUST has been recognized and praised by the Ministry of Education and all walks of life. For example, the total number of students in the school has been the second largest of all the universities of science and technology nationwide, as well as the first of all the private universities of science and technology. In the 2019 "Cheers" magazine "Enterprise Favorite Student Survey," STUST won first place among private universities of science and technology for the tenth time. STUST has even moved up to the sixth place among all the universities of science and technology nationwide. In addition, the direction of school management is also deeply supported by the industry. STUST has integrated the resources of production with Tainan Textile, set up a research and development center for industry and education, and established a joint study of intelligence and medicine with Chimei Medical Center. At the same time, the university and the Ministry of Science and Technology have jointly established a new derivative company, which is expected to bring a whole new medicine for Alzheimer's disease to the world.
