The Interdisciplinary teams of Department of Electronic Engineering and Department of Business Administration, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won one Gold, one Silver, and one Excellency Award in Intelligent Networking Special Project Competition

Information and Technology Education Division, the Ministry of Education, and Yunlin University of Science and Technology organized the 2019 Intelligent Networking Project Competition to encourage college students to engage in core technology research related to intelligent networking systems, utilize design techniques and innovative applications, and deepen intelligent networking technology and increase the added value of intelligent networking systems. The awarding ceremony was held at National Chung Hsing University a few days ago. The Internet of Things Laboratory of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and the interdisciplinary team of the School of Business Administration of the University won the Gold and Silver Awards for the Smart Space Application Group and an excellency award in the car electronics and transportation application group. 60 were allowed to enter the finals; they were from 236 teams coming from 56 colleges and universities in the preliminary. The overall winning rate is about 5%, which made any award quite valuable

The team that won the Gold Award for the Smart Space Application Group came from the Internet of Things Laboratory of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology—Zhen-Hao Chen, Zhi-Sheng Zhang, Zong-Han Yang, Zi-Jin Yang, and Yu-Jie Ke, who worked closely together with Li-Wun Lin and Yi-Ling Shie, directed by Prof. Zong-Yue Tsai of the Department of International Business Management. With their knowledge of in-depth learning technology, their work can effectively solve the problem chronic visually impaired patients often take wrong medicine of multiple doses. The success rate has reached more than 97%

The "Fatigue Driving Police's Heterogeneous In-Car Networking System," which won an Excellency Award in the Automotive Electronics and Transportation Application Group, was produced by Ke-Zhen Fang and Kang-Wei Su from the Internet of Things Laboratory of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Shengxiu Lin, Wei-Jun Zhang, Ya-Shin Zheng, and Pin-Hua Wang, directed by Prof. Zhao-Jun Yu of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Prof. Wei-Wen Hu of the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Prof. Zong-Yue Tsai of the Department of Business Administration. The smart glasses first identified whether the driver has fatigue. If the driver wears smart glasses and fatigue occurs, the system will integrate Power Line Communication (PLC) with the camera mounted in front of the car, displaying the image of the front of the car and the fatigue warning message behind the car, so that the rear car can know the condition of the vehicle ahead
