After several months, the 108th Academic Year National College Volleyball Tournament finally resumed its competition in July, and the participating players could finally show the results of their hard work this year. Over rounds of fierce competition, they finally won the runner-up of the general men's team. The results of the team's hard work indeed stood as a great example for other school teams and clubs.

The members of the men’s volleyball team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology are all players selected from a training team composed of team coaches and seniors in the Interdepartmental Cup Volleyball Tournament when freshmen entered the school. The players of the volleyball team had little understanding of the volleyball team play patterns, tactics, and even the basic skills at the beginning. Some even joined the team with the mentality of playing just for fun. The quality gap was quite large. However, Coach Su-Yue Su in the Physical Education Center taught them daily from the basics. The movement to consolidate skills was slowly implemented until the members gradually became mature and integrated into the school team. The process was quite difficult. In the arduous training process, the member established a tacit understanding of mutual assistance and cooperation and revolutionary emotions before they could win in the tournament with such great results.

Rong-Yu Su, Director of the Physical Education Center, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that it was not easy that the men’s volleyball school team was able to win the runner-up of the National College Volleyball Tournament in such a fiercely competitive schedule. Special thanks should be given to President Deng-Maw Lu for his determination to promote the school’s sports atmosphere, his commitment to the Physical Education Center, and his support in improving the school’s sports environment and providing subsidies for related sports equipment. The team members also feel very grateful to the school’s support and training, which inspired in them a positive spirit to struggle and achieve good results without fear of hardship. It is hoped that the school team members can accumulate experience from the competition, strengthen their spirit of an athlete, and develop the concept of a lifetime in sports, no matter whether they win an award or not.
