The school team of STUST won 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes with its excellent performance at the 2022 National College Games.

The results of the 2022 National College Games (referred to as the Universidad) were announced a few days ago. STUST won a total of 13 medals, including 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes.

A total of 69 athletes from STUST participated in six sports, including track and field, billiards, tennis, taekwondo, karate and badminton. In the track and field events, four players—Yin-chen Lin, Shi-de Chen, Li-min Chen and Bo-shun Yao—won the 4×100 meter relay in the general men' track. Bo-shun Yao even won the championship in the general men’s track and field 400-meter hurdles. In addition, Yin-chen Lin won the bronze medal in the general men’s track and field pole vault high school. The STUST track and field school team won 11 medals including 2 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze, and 2 medals in the Taekwondo event. Yi-jing Chang won the bronze medal in the general women's Taekwondo individual group and other achievements are very commendable.

Under the leadership of President Deng-Maw Lu, STUST appointed key development project teams to cultivate outstanding sports talents for track and field, basketball, volleyball, billiards, tennis and softball, and regularly organize school-wide teacher-student games and various sports competitions. It renovated the school’s sports venues to provide adequate space for teachers and students to exercise in the school, especially during the pandemic containment period. It has further enhanced the awareness of the importance of sports among teachers and students in the school and forward brought the school’s sports atmosphere, hoping to achieve the goal of building a strong country through exercise.

Director Rong-Yu Su of the Sports Education Center of STUST pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic had made it particular tough for athletes to prepare for each event. Everyone should express his or her gratitude to teachers who offered training and support to make players continuously improve their professional training and competitions in a perfect training environment and finally achieve such outstanding results. The teachers and students of the school are all proud of them. President Deng-Maw Lu expressed his encouragement and gratification for the results of this competition, and he personally went to the National Universidad to cheer for the players. He hoped that the players would be able to break through their own limits and show their strength in all the future competitions.

President Deng-Maw Lu said that in recent years STUST has made quite good progress in academic affairs, educational affairs, and clubs and sports activities. He hopes that this will enhance students' interest in learning in many ways and further improve their academic performance. In recent years, STUST has performed well in sports competitions. He also encouraged both teachers and students to establish the concept of "doing sports for life."
