Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has had achievements in
promoting startup plans, creating more cases that have passed the U-start Program by the Ministry of Education than any other universities

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology attended the 2017 College Graduate Entrepreneurship Program" organized by the Youth Development Department of the Ministry of Education. From a list of 315 teams, six STUST　start-up teams received subsidies for the first phase, with a total purse of NT$ 3 million. Having the largest number of cases in the country, South Taiwan University of Science and Technology showed its success in recent years. Through the micro-learning in entrepreneurial practice, campus entrepreneurship competitions, building up the three-fold creative atmosphere of creation, innovation, and entrepreneurship, importing the former IQ Space and the mechanism of breeding resources and counseling, as well as the Maker Space for student practicum, STUST has helped its teachers and students quickly finish their creative works and prompted its teachers and students to start up their own companies. This is certain a one-stop service for the implementation of entrepreneurial development.

The six pioneering teams enrolled in the first phase of the U-start Program in 2017 include Alley in Heart Cultural Worshop, Time and Digital Technology, I.S.D.S, Explosive Power of English, ClefTEK, and Finguide. Among them, I.S.D.S proposed a standardized scalp state detection process, which was developed into Intelligent Scalp Detection System (I.S.D.S.). The team uses the skin detector to identify the scalp or skin condition, and passes the identification of the results to a tablet with through WiFi. Apps on the tablet can receive images of the scalp or skin taken by the skin detector and the condition of the scalp or skin after identification, thereby reducing the cost of personnel related to the use of the skin care products and creating objective data to improve the trust of the respondents. In addition, APPs can also upload the results of the scalp or skin test to a cloud information management platform, and the platform will manage the results of each scalp or skin test records. As a member of the management, any beauty salon, medical institute, or dermatology clinic can obtain and use the related scalp or skin status data statistical analysis to achieve a comprehensive physical therapy tracking.

On the other hand, Clef TEK, who started with entrepreneurial presence, accepted the counseling of the "pre-accelerator program"—a newly transformed counseling of the South-Taiwan University of Science and Technology Innovation Center. The team, as a result, created a leak detection device that can not only automatically detect water leakage but also report the site of the leak through its communication system based on the concept of Internet of things. In addition to solving labor shortage and detecting problems and mistakes, it can also monitor the entire water system, make an analysis, and immediately sends back the related information and data.

This concept will turn into an integration of water problems and the Internet of things. It not only solves problems but also create a monitoring function. Overall, it demonstrates practicality and creativity to the full, and its technology has helped the team win the favor of a Singapore accelerator, which takes it as a great investment opportunity. Boosted by the resources of the U-start Program and supported by the Small and Med-cap Enterprises Innovation Training Center of South Taiwan University of Science and Technology, this technology will soon become a new product in the market. It is greatly hoped that with all these resources and supports, there will be more international business opportunities to come, more forwarding-looking and prospective in terms of efficiency and profit-making.
