STUST Elderly and Youth USR Project Team, Fubon Life Insurance, and the Bureau of Social Affairs jointly held the "Elderly and Youth Leaping over the Dragon Gate and Happily Celebrating the Year of the Dragon" Program as an end-of-year warm-hearted activity to care for the elderly living alone over the cold winter

In order to implement the integration youth and elderly USR project, take care of the disadvantaged and the elderly, and activate the lives of aging people, the STUST Youth and Elderly Co-creation USR Project worked together with the Bureau of Social Affairs of Tainan City and Fubon Life, which has always attached great importance to elderly care services, once again joined hands, on the eve of the Lunar New Year (February 6) to organize the "Elderly and Youth Leaping over the Dragon Gate and Happily Celebrating the Year of the Dragon" Program at the Nanmei Community Activity Center of Central and Western District, Tainan City. Mayor Wei-zhe Huang of Tainan City, Director Yu-chong Lu of the Bureau of Social Affairs, Deputy Manager Bing-liang Liu of Fubon Life, and Vice President De-guang Chou of STUST, and other honorable guests took practical actions at the end of the year to show their warmth and care for the elderly living alone through the cold winter. Through this action, they hoped to gather more partners to join the caring activity and accompany the elderly over the Lunar New Year.

Mayor Wei-zhe Huang of Tainan City expressed his special thanks to STUST and Fubon Life Insurance for their long-term enthusiasm for public welfare, in-depth research on the social issues of the elderly, improvement of the quality of elderly life, and activation of aging people, achieving the goal of "whole-person care, all-age protection" and creating a warm-hearted Tainan. Director Lu of the Bureau of Social Affairs pointed out that in order to serve the elderly living alone, the city has established a "Care Service Plan for the Elderly Living Alone" to provide such services as telephone greetings, caring visits, home care, meals, and accompanying medical treatment. Moreover, for low-and-middle income households, there are elderly living allowances, special care allowance, medical care, dentures, health insurance self-payment, hospitalization care for serious illness and housing improvement subsidies, etc. STUST will continue to strengthen caring visits during the Lunar New Year to ensure that services can stay active.

The warm-heated winter activity has been going on for many years. With the annual financial sponsorship of Fubon Life, this year STUST once again organized a charity activity with the theme "Elderly and Youth Leaping over the Dragon Gate and Happily Celebrating the Year of the Dragon" with the STUST USR team of Elderly and Youth Co-created, teachers and students of the Department of Elderly Care, the Bureau of Social Affairs, and the Taiwan Elderly Care and Education Association. Protect Your Heart at Home Co., Ltd., Chengyuan Home Long-term Care, and other organizations. We jointly provided the disadvantaged and elderly people living alone with cereals, warm bags, crisper boxes, scarves and other happiness and heart-warming gifts bags, together with a feast of exotic Taiwanese delicious food, and the elders of the Jinhua, Kunyu, and Wenling communities. The senior citizen team of STUST provided warm-up exercises and puzzle games to entertain the 150 elders on site, showing the great relationship between the elderly and youth. The event, linked with the Tainan City Calligraphy Association, also gave away free Spring Festival couplets on-site for people to feel the New Year atmosphere in advance. For the elderly who were unable to come, love was also sent to their home, so that the elderly could sepnd the New Year together.

Bing-liang Liu, Deputy Manager of Fubon Life in Tainan, said that in the face of an aging society, Fubon Life upholds the core value of "people-oriented" in life insurance. Vice President De-guang Chou of STUST said that STUST has been deeply involved in the elderly community and found that the elderly have nutritional deficiencies and poor dental health. In order to promote the appetite and diverse nutritional intake of the elderly in the community, STUST uses Elderly and Youth Co-creation to integrate pan-cultural and exotic cuisine for the elderly. Participants created a situation of "loving food, delicious food, and enjoying food" to open up their food horizons. This year, they also joined Elderly and Youth to "play" warm-up exercises and puzzles to overcome five levels, deepen the cycle of love and kindness, care for the well-being of the elderly, and implement the university's and corporate social responsibility.
