Microsoft has announced (https://www.microsoft.com/en/education/products/microsoft-365-storage-options#AdditionalStorageItemId ) that, effective February 1, 2024, the storage allocation for Microsoft 365 Education will change. All accounts within the institution will share a total storage pool of 100TB.
After negotiations with Microsoft, our institution has obtained a temporary deferral of enforcement under the current contract; however, before the contract expires, the university’s total usage must be reduced to within 100TB.
University Policy Adjustment
-Following the resolution of the university’s administrative meeting:
*M365 services will be provided only to current faculty, staff, and enrolled students.
*The storage quota for each eligible account will be limited to 5GB.
*Accounts belonging to resigned employees, withdrawn students, transferred students, and alumni will be permanently deleted.
Required Action
*Please download and back up your data from OneDrive or transfer it to other storage services.
*Faculty, staff, and students must reduce storage usage to 5GB or below.
Timeline and Enforcement
*Starting December 2025, the Library and Information Office will begin account processing.
*Accounts that exceed the 5GB quota or do not comply with the policy will be suspended or removed.
*Once processed, all data in OneDrive, SharePoint, and Exchange associated with those accounts will be permanently deleted.
We urge all users to review account contents and back up important files promptly.
