The Ministry of Education is forwarding the attached announcement from Ghent University, the University of Groningen, and the University of Tartu for the 2025–2026 Taiwan Studies Visiting Professorships. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. Please see the details below.
1. Program Overview:
To promote and expand Taiwan Studies in Europe, the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education has established a cooperative program with the three universities named above. Two Taiwan Visiting Professors will be selected, each serving a four-month term:
• One at the University of Groningen (Netherlands)
• One at the University of Tartu (Estonia)
The appointments will take place during the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. Teaching responsibilities and related subsidies are described in the attached documents.
2. Application Details
(1) Eligibility:
1. Hold a Ph.D. in the social sciences, political science, history, or cultural studies (fields such as politics, international relations, law, economics, modern or intellectual history, and geopolitics are especially welcome).
2. Have academic and teaching experience in Taiwan and East Asian Studies.
3. Demonstrate strong English proficiency (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
4. Be able to teach a graduate-level course related to “EU–East Asia Relations.”
5. Be a faculty member of a higher education institution in Taiwan (preference will be given to ssociate or full professors applying during their sabbatical period).
