I. To promote the exchange of research, teaching practices, and institutional innovations related to the First-Year Experience (FYE), Shih Chien University tentatively plans to hold its annual conference on April 16th and 17th, 2027, at its Taipei campus.
II. This conference aims to address the needs and challenges faced by students transitioning from high school (or vocational school) to higher education, particularly in areas such as learning adaptation, self-exploration, career planning, interdisciplinary learning, digital and artificial intelligence literacy, socio-emotional development, and campus support. Through the exchange of research findings and practical experience, the conference seeks to deepen the support provided by universities and colleges for the learning and development of first-year university students. The call for papers also emphasizes the cultivation of students' abilities in self-directed learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, digital literacy, and career resilience. III. The themes for this call for papers include "Exploring Self and Student Development," "Cross-Domain Connections and Co-creation of Learning," "Intelligent Learning and Future Competencies," "Institutional Innovation and Student Support," and "Social-Emotional Learning and Holistic Development." All research or practical findings related to the first-year university experience, freshman transition, curriculum teaching, learning support, and student development are welcome.
IV. The target audience is faculty, researchers, administrators and counselors, industry mentors, graduate students, and other individuals interested in the first-year university experience from domestic and international colleges and universities. Manuscripts are categorized into three types: empirical research papers, reflections on teaching and practice, and innovative solutions and practical tools.
V. Submission methods, schedule, and related matters are as follows:
(I) Online submission is required. Submitters may choose to submit a long abstract or a complete paper. Both Chinese and English manuscripts are acceptable. The submission period is from the date of this announcement until September 14, 2016. The submission website is: https://ppt.cc/fSb7fx. (II) To encourage outstanding manuscripts with research quality, innovative value, practical contributions, and potential for dissemination, a "Best Paper Award" has been added this year.
