To help you use copyrighted materials legally in your course packets, slides, and online lectures, the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) has provided a practical toolkit: "Copyright Guide for Teaching." Please keep the following legal guidelines in mind to ensure compliance:

• Fair Use in the Classroom:
o You may exploit copyrighted works through reproduction, public performance, or public exhibition (e.g., photocopying an article as a handout or playing a short movie clip) strictly within the necessary scope of teaching purposes.
o Do not photocopy entire textbooks or play full movies/unrelated music solely for entertainment, as this exceeds the scope of fair use and unreasonably harms the economic interests of copyright owners.

• Guidelines for Distance Education (Online Teaching):
o Under Article 46 of the Copyright Act, you are allowed to make works available to students via public transmission for remote classes.
o However, the university/instructor must implement reasonable technical measures (such as password-protected access via the campus LMS) to restrict access strictly to enrolled students.
