1. Holiday Period
Friday, October 23, through Monday, October 26, 2026 (4 days).
2. Public Transportation Offers
To encourage faculty, staff, and students to use public transportation when traveling home or taking trips during the long weekend, the Directorate General of Highways (DGH) is offering the following discounts and benefits:
1. 15% Discount on Intercity Highway Bus Fares
A 15% discount is available on 85 designated intercity highway bus routes serving eastern Taiwan and medium- to long-distance destinations.
2. Transfer Discounts and Free Happiness Bus Services
Passengers who travel by Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), Taiwan Railways (TRA), or intercity highway bus and transfer to local bus services using an electronic transit card within 10 hours can enjoy a free basic-distance fare or one-section fare. Passengers holding paper tickets must first tap their electronic transit cards at the designated card readers at the station to qualify for the transfer discount. Selected Happiness Bus routes are also available free of charge for the entire journey.
3. Additional Rewards for Frequent Intercity Bus Passengers
In addition to the 15% fare discount, passengers may benefit from the TPASS 2.0 frequent-traveler rewards program. Passengers taking intercity highway buses 2–3 times per month can receive a 15% reward, while those traveling 4 or more times per month can receive a 30% reward. Registering on the Green Transportation Service Platform provides an additional 3% reward. When combined, these offers can reduce the effective fare to as low as 57% of the original ticket price.
3. Reminder
Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to use public transportation to reduce private vehicle use, save energy, and travel safely. Please refer to the official announcements issued by the DGH and relevant platforms for detailed eligibility requirements, applicable routes, and terms and conditions.
