In the early hours of this morning, one of our students tragically lost their life after being struck by a passenger car.. This heartbreaking incident reminds us all of the importance of pedestrian safety.
To help prevent similar tragedies, all students are urged to follow these essential safety guidelines:
1.Stay Alert When Walking at Night: Visibility is often reduced at night, making it more difficult for drivers to notice pedestrians in time. Always pay attention to surrounding traffic and road conditions. Do not let fatigue, distractions, mobile phone use, or wearing earphones compromise your safety.
2.Do Not Walk Side by Side on the Road: When walking with friends, avoid walking side by side in a way that occupies the roadway. Walk in a safe formation, keep to designated pedestrian areas, and never step into a traffic lane unnecessarily.
3.Choose Safe Walking Routes: Use sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and well-lit roads whenever possible. Avoid walking in vehicle lanes. If no sidewalk is available, walk along the edge of the road and follow applicable traffic safety rules.
4.Wear Light-Colored or Reflective Clothing: When walking at night, wear light-colored or reflective clothing to make yourself more visible to drivers.
5.Stay Focused and Watch for Traffic: Avoid looking at your phone or wearing headphones at a volume that prevents you from hearing surrounding traffic. Before crossing a road, stop, look, and listen, and proceed only when it is safe.
6.Traffic accidents can happen in an instant. Never take your safety for granted. Stay alert, avoid unnecessary risks, and look out for yourself and your friends, especially when walking at night. Let us work together to improve traffic safety around our campus and prevent further tragedies.
