The Department of Popular Music Industry, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, invited “Timeless Fusion Party” to hold a music camp, where masters and teaches brought students into musical creation and practical exercises.

The Department of Popular Music Industry of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held a music camp in the Tainan Cultural and Creative Industry Park for two days in a row. It invited Taiwan’s premier fusion jazz band “Timeless Fusion Party” to bring different views of creating pop music to students and people who have aspiration for pop music.

"Infinite Fusion Party" is a jazz band led by renowned film scores arranger Sheng-Fei Lu and well-known saxophone player Shu-Wen Dong; its band members include guitarist Chi-Yuan Chuang, drummer Hao Chen, and bassist You-Yi Chen, who are all well-known musicians in the music industry. They have been producing and playing music for major players at home and abroad, such as Hui Jiang, Shiao-Hu Huang, Hua-Jian Chou, Lan-Lin Liang, Jian Li, Jian-Ya Tsai, Jing-Ru Liang, Chin-Yi Tsai, Sheng-Yi Chen, Da-Ching Su, FIR, Jun-Jie Lin, and many other musicians, directors, and musicians.

The two-day music camp contained interactive harmony rhythm, rhythm arrangement, improvisation, blind spot breakthroughs, and final music practice drills interacting with students. Both the music creation and the theory were given in full courses for all participating students.

As Infinite Fusion Party said at its official website, they were grateful to the invitation of the Department of Popular Music Industry, South Taiwan University of Science and Technology. They hoped that through the practical teaching of the two-day music camp, they could pass on their music creation experience and enable the students to keep themselves away from wrong paths and to build a correct and stable foundation as soon as possible. On top of that, students would continue to work hard and step out of our own lives to achieve the social responsibility of unlimited integration.

As President Deng-Maw Lu of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said, the government has included “pop music industry” in the “Six Emerging Industries Project” to encourage schools to start with education. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is the first university in the country to set up a department of pop music industry. STUST has so far invested NT$ 100 million, continued to purchase the latest advanced teaching equipment, and increased teaching space for professional courses. Furthermore, it combined Tainan Cultural and Creative Park with its Film and Television Center, recruited teachers from the popular music industry to give students lectures to strengthen the practice skills and experience in popular music, allowed students to receive complete training in popular music industry, and cultivated more professionals in pop music industry and connect them with the job market.
