2018 Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Nan Jeon University of Science and Technology rode together into the ancient Yuejin, roaming Yanshiue and have fun with punching.

The project team of "Creation and Dissemination of Cultural Elements—Fucheng v.s. Yuejin," formed by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology's, for the first time co-organized with its partner Nan Rong University of Science and Technology an event called "Roaming into ancient Yuejin and punching through Yanshiue Town.” The event was held recently at the former square of the Administrative Service and Activity Center of Nan Rong University. In order to prosper the Yanshiue area, the planning team reproduced the Yuejin style, and the two schools cooperated for a series of activities. In this event, the vehicle suitable for the Yanshiue area—the bicycle—was especially selected, and the tourists were called to lightly step on the iron horse, to slowly enjoy the ancient Yuejin, and to really appreciate its beauty.

The route departed from Nan Rong University, passing through Wu Temple, Fishing Fire Mass Temple--one of the eight scenic spots of Yanshiue—the local catholic church with the wall painting of the Last Supper, and the Landmark of Yanshiue–the Octagon Building. It was hoped that the participants could travel through time and space and went back to the era of the prosperous time in the past. This route was designed and planned by the team of Nan Rong University, formed as a result of its courses: "Nanjing Cultural Guide" and "Introduction to Creativity." Making use of the route, the team planned for five activity routes before the community representatives selected 10 attractions for the event. In addition to the Nan Rong student team, who was responsible for the coordination of the activity, bicycle safety check-up, traffic guidance, etc. the team of the Senior University also joined the staff to assist the operation of the activity.

The team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was also responsible for the operating, recording, and guarding the levels of the event. The event was highly recognized by the local people; a lot of business people and restaurant owners in Nanchiao community came to help guard the levels of the event. They also helped participants understand more about Yanshiue and ancient Yuejin.

The total length of the event is about 3 kilometers, with a total of ten stops. The project team hoped to arrange local professional teachers to guide the people in touring, riding, sightseeing, and enjoying the prosperous scenery of the ancient Yuejin in the Yanshiue area, helping them understand the beauty of Yanshiue. In order to increase the participants' impressions with ancient Yuejin. 10 stops were designed for participants to get their cards stamped; at every stop, they can get extra small gifts, in addition to listening to the professional guides to the area. There are three food attractions, where participants must follow the prompts to find the level, in order to enjoy the local cuisine of Yanshiue. In addition, along with the popular QR Code scanning, the participants could have their cards checked at any time to share photos instantly. The event was extremely popular, with members ranging from 83 to as young as 5; all the young and old joined the event, making Yanshiue showing its ancient beauty.

President Deng-Maw Lu of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that the event was organized by the team in the Yanshiue area to carry out the "local cultural care" strategy management, a cross-school, cross-domain program. President Lu encouraged the project team to continue and deepen the participation and care of the local community, jointly negotiate ways to preserve the culture of the suburbs, and actively promote it. In the future, through cross-domain cooperation and projects, STUST shall be making good use of resource sharing and mutual assistance and complementarity in professional capabilities. It shall also be able to create a win-win situation for the region, the schools, and the society as a whole, ultimately revitalizing the Yuejin and bringing it back to the old times.
