The Department of Applied English, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, has cooperated with the Howard Hotel in its winter and summer camps for six consecutive years. Recently, Howard Hotel Kenting held a summer camp press conference. 6 intern students performed live English drama "When Hooker Captain Meets the Sika Deer,” making all the guests and children feel much happy and hilarious and offering parents opportunities to make their children learn English even when they are having a vacation in Kenting.

The Department of Applied English, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, has cooperated with the five-star Howard Hotel Kenting in running its English summer camp for children since 2014 years. Visitors can be assured that their children can learn about social interaction in English context, the life of sika deer, table manners, baking DIY, along with a great time in the water world and other activities. The off-campus interns in English had interesting interaction with children. After an intensive training in language expression, body moves, and singing and dancing performances, the 6 students of the Department of Applied English went to the hotel for their internships this year. Every intern was eager to try and hoped to create a new climax in the summer camp with the knowledge and skills they had learned at school.

General Manager Ji-Guang Chang of Howard Hotel Kenting said that the success of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology had been well known in research and development, industry, education, teaching and regional contribution. Together with the English drama training of the department, their cooperation has lasted for nearly 6 years. Over the past years, the hotel has been able to set up great winter camps and summer camps. This year, the teachers and students of the Department of Applied English were invited to design an English situation play with the fairy tale theme of Captain Hook as the main activity of the summer camp.

Ching-Rong Yang, Chair of the Department of Applied English at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that the winter and summer Camps would be held in conjunction with the English teaching and English drama training. The intern had participated in the body expression workshop and accepted the previous training in acting. The training of students of different grades has become a highlight of the department.

This year, instructors from the Department of Applied English of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Prof. Yin-Hsin Lin and Fang-Li Lin, led the 6 off-campus interns to participate in the press conference. The performance was outstanding and the guests were very amazing. After more than three months of preparation and training, the 6 members of the English Summer Camp for Children would start their Kenting internship at the end of June. This off-campus internship will be a valuable experience for the hotels, the university, and the participating students. More parents and tourists are welcome to join the children this summer to attend the English Summer Camp for Children at Howard Hotel Kenting.
