College of Digital Design of STUST won great awards in international competitions!

STUST held a press conference on October 7 for the announcement of the results of the 2020 International Design Competition. The president of STUST, Dr. Deng-Maw Lu, Dean He-Tian Yeh of the College of Digital Design, related instructors and award-winning teachers, and participating students were invited to attend it and witness the glory together. The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), the German RedDot Design Award, and the German iF Design Award are all important design awards in the global design arena. They can be called the Oscars in the world of design. Contestants from both the industry or the academic attach great importance and strive for them, thanks to the top-notched judges and reviewers of the awards. Therefore, the industry's standards for evaluation and employment are mostly based on the three awards, which give rise to the most important annual events in the design industry. For example, the winning team is a first-class design team, not only the first in Taiwan, but also the top in the world. This year, the College of Digital Design of STUST won one gold award and two silver awards in the IDEA, Winner 2 and four Excellent Work Awards in the German iF Design Rookie Award, four awards in the German RedDot and Communication Design Award, and many other international awards. At the same time, they also had brilliant performances in various domestic competitions. All these prove that the teaching innovation of STUST has achieved remarkable results and the strength of students has reached international standards.

STUST adheres to its philosophy of school operation—"pursuing excellence, research and innovation," integrating different demands and adding to them innovation and implementation. Through teaching innovation, cross-domain integration, and industry-university cooperation, STUST strengthens its teaching basics and technical skills, while providing a multi-faceted learning environment to help students understand the operation and environment of the industry as soon as possible. It is hoped that students can be successfully employed after graduation. Some of the award-winning works have been actually used in the field to complete the transformation of demands and turn their works into products. The implementation of the social responsibilities of universities of science and technology also proves that STUST has been making great efforts in cultivating diverse talents, industry-university research and development, and the process of moving towards internationalization

President Deng-Maw Lu said that STUST has always encouraged teachers to help students participate in various competitions at home and abroad. Students practice what they have learned in various competitions under the guidance of teachers, and learn from the experience during the competitions. No matter what the results can be, they come to fortify their confidence and broaden their horizons of knowledge. This time the participating teams have achieved many good results on the international arena, showing that the teaching innovation of STUST has been effective and has reached international standards. As President Lu believed, these results will enable all the students to follow these participating students and bring out their potential. He also hoped that they can set foot on the steps of the senior sister, towards the broad road. For these good results, thanks should be given to all the teachers and students for their hard work. Young students who are interested in the international arena also welcome to study at STUST and lay a good foundation for their future.
