The theme of this year's exhibition was "Construction Time." The design was based on thinking, starting with the statue of “The Thinker,” which signified that the students of the College of Digital Design were thinking day and night, completing tasks in various fields, and constantly carrying out engineering construction, furnishing and modifying their works. The students used creative ideas to compare their hard work in the learning process to the work of engineering. Through mutual cooperation and mutual assistance, they could eventually achieve their final works. For this reason, the five departments had also polished their strength after four years of hardening their hearts and souls. The types of works included video, graphic design, integrated marketing, game production, product design, music design, etc. The majority of the exhibited works came from the Department of Visual Communication Design, which included communication design, packaging design, 2D animation, 3D animation, and experiment and mixed media. With their creation, they hoped to inject a new wave into the domain of Taiwan's design. The College of Digital Design, STUST, also saw a total of 16 finalists in the 2021 Youth Design Festival Creative Design Competition, including 5 finalists from the Department of Creative Product Design, 7 finalists from the Department of Visual Communication Design, and 4 finalists from the Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science. This year’s competition was divided into four categories for evaluation, namely, visual communication design, architecture and space design, three-dimensional modeling and product design, and digital multimedia and game design. Among them, there were five works from the Department of Creative Product Design: "JOIN-T," "Double Beneficial Shifting Singles," "N+ Smart Nursing Car," "GO WALK Dog Life Action Aids," and "TUNNEL KEEPER Tunnel Emergency Fire Fighting and Ambulance Locomotive," all of which were greatly affirmed by the judges, and it is hoped that the works can be applied to the daily life of the general public in the future.

The exhibited works were based on a great variety of themes. The Department of Information Communication exhibited 15 works, the Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science exhibited 20 works, the Department of Visual Communication Design exhibited 36 works, and the Department of Creative Product Design exhibited 29 works. The opening ceremony started with the performance of groups from the Department of Pop Music. A total of 100 works were exhibited. Among the many excellent graduation works of the College of Digital Design, the work "Hand Pinches" of the Animation Group of the Department of Visual Communication used Taiwanese opera as the main element of its animation. It describes how people in today's society are often afraid of being different from others because of their own uniqueness; they just don’t have the confidence in themselves. With this as its basic idea, the work combines with traditional culture, hoping that through the role of traditional Taiwanese opera culture, the protagonist can understand himself and learn to identify himself as he grows up.

The Department of Creative Product Design also had many excellent works. Among them, "JOIN-T Dog House" was shortlisted in this youth design festival, and it was affirmed by many judges. This work is designed with dogs as the design object, integrating the dog rehabilitation information provided by the hospital records with the principles of pet exercise rehabilitation. At the same time, by taking into account the needs of the owners, the existing complex rehabilitation tools are simplified and modularized, while the design of the APP is used to assist and guide the owners, so that they can help their dogs recover at home and improve their resilience.

The Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science also had many works that had been recognized as finalists in the Youth Design Festival. Among them, "Aeruta" is a pixel-style 2D side-scrolling action game that emphasizes the player’s attack fluency and a sense of striking through continuous attacks. With the driving mechanism, the player can control the enemy's actions, reach the battle cycle, and get a compact, refreshing experience.

The news feature program "Post Pandemic Taiwan" of the Department of Information and Communication takes a multi-faceted view of the dramatic changes that the pandemic has brought to Taiwan, ranging from the international economy, public pandemic prevention, to various details of people's lives. Taking Taiwan's transformation as a starting point, it leads the public to reflect upon the future direction of Taiwan, which is also the most watched topic this year.
In addition to the on-campus graduation exhibition "Construction Time," the joint exhibition of the five departments of the College of Digital Design would continue at four exhibitions: the "Youth Design Festival" at the Penglai Warehouse in Kaohsiung, the "Broadcast Awards" in Hall 2 of Kaohsiung Exhibition Hall, the "New Generation Design Exhibition" at Taipei Nankang Exhibition Hall, the "2021A+ Cultural Resources Creative Season" at Taichung Cultural Assets B11 Park. It is hoped that students can communicate with design works from all over Taiwan, broaden their horizons, and learn more experience. It is also hoped that more people will see STUST’s figures. The excellent work quality of the College of Design allows students to connect with the design industry for future employment.
Deng-Maw Lu, President of STUST, said that bridging the gaps in academic uses has always been a goal of the education sector. STUST has also been working towards that goal. The cultivation of cooperative talents is the blueprint for the general direction. The benchmark enterprises in the corresponding industries are selected for cooperation. The enterprise and STUST jointly plan the practical courses and on-site practical internships, STUST teachers go to the cooperative enterprise for research, and the students go to the cooperative enterprise for internship. The “learning by doing” approach helps students complete employment practical training. This will help seamlessly integrate academic study and future employment, help graduates find their ideal companies, and help companies find the talents they need. The main purpose of the joint exhibition is to provide students with the opportunity to participate in large-scale exhibitions, hoping to use this opportunity to communicate and learn from other partners through the film festival, enhance their competitiveness, and lay a good interpersonal relationship for the future through this exhibition. Based on the foundation, actively demonstrate their professional abilities, leave a mark of achievement for one's life stage, and increase their exposure in the exhibition hall, thereby increasing future employment opportunities.
