The STUST's competitive cheerleading team recently won multiple awards with their outstanding performance in the 2023 Taichung City Mayor's Cup National Cheerleading Championship, organized by the Sports Department of Taichung City Government, Taichung City Cheerleading Association, and the Cheer Dance Association of the Republic of China at the Chaoma National Sports Center in Taichung City, including the champion of the college women's group of multi-base skills and that of the general college group the five-player all-around mixed group.

The competitive cheerleading team is a sport where contestants can shout out the name of their school loudly during the competition. The competitive cheerleading team of STUST also shouted the name of their school during the competition. In addition to cheering for the contestants and inspiring them, the contestants wore the name of the STUST on the day of competition. There were also many participating students from elementary schools and high school vocational school. It also helped STUST recruit students. A total of 78 teams participated in the event, with excellent cheerleading athletes from across counties and cities gathering in Taichung. The exciting content of the event made the audience applaud and scream continuously.

As it is now the graduation season, many outstanding seniors have graduated and are working one after another, and the club is bothered by the trend of declining birthrate. Therefore, the STUST competitive cheerleading team could only signed up for 2 teams to participate. The team encouraged each team member to actively participate to enhance their strengths rather than ignore the opportunity of each competition just because the number of club members had dropped sharply. Although this competition was held during the summer vacation, the players also spontaneously returned to school to carry out intensive training, strengthen the competition process technology, and cultivate the tacit understanding of each participating group. During the training process, the players constantly cheered each other up and relieved the nervousness of some players who were competing for the first time. They showed the results of hard training on the day of the competition and participated in the college women's group of multi-base skills and the general college group the five-player all-around mixed group. It is commendable that they won the championships.

The STUST competitive cheerleading team negotiated and discussed with the coach during the summer vacation. The players formed a team with each other, jointly integrated the competition training plan, developed the competition process, cultivated a perfect tacit understanding with the team members, and held a summer training camp for several days to practice hard and show the training results. After the competition, the STUST competitive cheerleading team continued to carry out intensive training to prepare for various performances for the start of the school year, including the 2023 Science and Technology Baseball Carnival, hosted by STUST on September 3 (Sunday), the 112th school year club recruitment activities, and preparation work for the 112th school year, together with various related work of the annual Inter-Department Cup Competitive Cheerleading Championship and the 2023 National Cheerleading Championship in December. Activities and competitions have not disappeared due to the reduction in the number of club members. It is hoped that with the efforts of every team member, the competitive cheerleading team can recruit more freshman students, continue to maintain their outstanding results, win more glory for the school, and create a sustainable legacy for the team.
