In recent years, it has focused on technological research fields—including digital transformation, low-carbon materials, renewable energy, energy conservation, energy storage, and smart system integration—and actively strives for and obtains economic benefits. STUST has now become a certification agency of "Sustainable Development Service Agency-SD6 Green Process," granted by technical service agency of the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, as well as an industrial low-carbon and smart guidance unit approved by the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. It consists of 80 teachers in the school who have passed the ISO 14064-1 carbon inventory course training (including 20 teachers who have also passed the ISO 50001 energy management system diagnostic analysis). It has successfully coached nearly 60 companies to obtain, in 2023 the "Digital Manufacturing Management Value-Added Project" (carbon inventory application service, low-carbon technology application) and the "Industrial Low-Carbon and Intelligent Guidance Program" funding subsidies provided by the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.'

The current efforts of businesses will also prepare the next generation of successors for net-zero carbon emissions in 2050. The main industries of Yongkang Industrial Zone are focused on metal, chemicals and plastic products. In the future, export products will inevitably face the problems of "carbon rights" and "carbon taxes." Only by addressing the issues of corporate carbon emissions, establishing a carbon inventory database, training personnel’s inventory capabilities, diagnosing energy consumption sources, and developing carbon reduction path measures can we fully implement corporate low-carbon transformation.
Cheng-wen Wu, President of STUST, said that in response to the global trend of net-zero carbon emissions and digital transformation, sustainable development and competitiveness of enterprises is the key to survival. In addition to actively integrating on-campus resources and research and development results, STUST also has links with resources from industry, government, and academia. In addition to assisting companies in the development of technologies, such as net-zero carbon reduction and digital transformation, they also strive to cultivate on-campus students to become the "ESG green collar talents" needed by future companies, provide core talent support to companies, and promote the sustainable development of companies, consequently creating a win-win benefit for the government, industry, and academia.
