Under the guidance of Prof. Chen Youren from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, STUST, Jia-jun Li from the Department of Engineering and Zi-shuan Yang, Yi-shin Tsai, and Min-zhen Shie from the Department of Mechanical Engineering formed the "Wave Rock" team, designing and producing a wave energy converter. The team members came from different departments, different majors, and different departments of the school. It was indeed not easy to have achieved such great results.

Zi-shuan Yang said that the entry "Symmetric Point Absorption Doubly-Fed Permanent Magnet Wave Generator" was improved on the preliminary results of the laboratory team last year. In order to make breakthroughs and innovations, they spent several months and several designs working on it. In addition to modifying the buoyancy structure, they also adjusted the size to address the shortcomings before the competition work was completed. Student Yi-shin Tsai indicated shared that the team spent the summer vacation to intensively implement it. Although they encountered difficulties, everything went smoothly, thanks to the gread operation and problem-solving of the team. In addition, thorough preparations were made for the event briefing session. On the day of the competition, the presentation of the works was brought to a high level, including briefing committee members, questions and answers, and setting up actual measurement and scoring,. Winning the championship gave everyone in the team a sense of accomplishment.

Prof. You-ren Chen, Director of the USR project "Carbon Storage and Fishing" at STUST, said that the students used the self-made axial flow permanent magnet generator developed in this laboratory as well as 3D printing to make pontoons and other structures. In addition to the practicality, its simple overall design also came with great commercial potential, which won positive reviews from the judges. This competition successfully connected students from different backgrounds, and the good teamwork results were worth of reference and praise. The Carbon Storage and Fishing Team is committed to developing green power solutions that can be applied to fish farm areas, spanning wind energy, small hydropower, and wave energy in this competition. STUST looks forward to building a complete fish farm micro-grid in the future to reduce the cost of farmers and electricity consumption, while encouraging students to actively participate in competitions with generator implementation results and cultivate problem-solving abilities. It is hoped that this can further promote cross-domain cooperation, make progress and innovation based on the existing foundation, continue to cultivate renewable energy, and integrate global sustainable net zero goal.
