STUST has been actively participating in the Yuejin Port Lantern Festival for many years. The university’s social responsibility team’s “Local Creation and Dissemination of Cultural Heritage—Fucheng vs. Yuejin” project organized the “Feng Fan Saltwater Small Trip—the "Art Dispersion Tour" activity, led by the local Yuyu Art Studio and the Moon Art Museum team in Yanshui, allowed the public to understand the relationship between the exhibitions curated by the Moon Art Museum and its art exhibits and local culture, which aroused widespread response. This time, STUST further cooperated with the Bureau of Municipal Cultural Affairs and Zi Yang Digital Company, implementing the "Future City-Tainan City Local Cultural Characteristics Integration 5G Application and Implementation Plan." Through its cooperation with local artist Yi-chen Pan, the collaboration used the "Frog Drum of Moon Pond" in "Eight Scenes of Moon Pond" as an inspiration to restore the beauty of Moon Pond, add modern technological elements, and express the inseparable relationship of virtual-reality and reality in the form of twin towers located on the front and side of Yongcheng Theater. Inspired by plants grown by local natives and residents of Yanshui, such as hibiscus flowers, ferns, they added jellyfish-like plants to renew their own personality and meaning of life and reinterpret the entire "Moon Pond Frog Drum" field with AR virtual reality.

In addition, in the virtual tour system of the "Many Moon Beauty Action" in the alley light district, Yi-cheng Pan especially designed the futuristic technology virtual characters from the Web3 blue-chip project "CloneX," co-branded with the Japanese contemporary art master Murakami Takashi, to travel through the historical space and the alleys of culture. After the public scans the optical tag machine at the entrance of each block for positioning, they could enter the virtual map and see the introduction of the virtual works. The navigation system could also guide the public to the direction of the works in other districts and lead them to the physical objects in the district. Next to the works were CloneX virtual characters with different motion designs. People could interact with them to take photos or videos. In addition, various small animals and crystals from the virtual world would randomly appear on the alleys, allowing the public to explore the alleys in depth and experience the beauty of Yanyan lanes at night.

Vice President Rui-shing Chang of STUST, who is also the chief host of the project "Future City-Tainan City Local Cultural Characteristics Integration 5G Application and Implementation Plan," said that cultivating talents to invest in local industries has always been the mission of STUST. Since this project was implemented in 2023, whether it was combined with the Lin Department Store Parade, the Empty Mountain Festival, and this Yuejin Port Lantern Festival, it has not only helped launch Tainan’s 400-year-old activities and invigorated the local digital industry, but also attracted great attention to the mass participation of digital technology integrated into cultural heritage. This event took the highly accurate positioning advantage of exclusive patented optical communication, allowing the public to appreciate the Yuejin Port Lantern Festival artworks and "5G Moonlight AR Fantasy Tour" while enjoying each AR expands the real-world attractions. Visitors could see the exclusive "Stars of the Moon" by scanning the light label machine; they could also take a photo of themselves with the virtual image and print the photo. This allowed the public to leave a beautiful memory with Tainan's history of 400 years. STUST looks forward to integrating the advantages of 5G’s high-speed transmission and low latency into Tainan’s 400th anniversary event through this project in the New Year, which will definitely give the public a brand new cultural and technological experience.
